Is it possible to be effective with using just Warriors and Knights, or do you need to use marauders and other units?

I started putting together the battleforce and I realized I really like the warrior models and army of them would look fantastic, but I don't want to play an army and not at least be sort of competitive.

You can do with warriors and knights even tho chaos hounds are awesome same goes for marauders they rock.

I ran a 4 blocks of warriors army with 3 units of hounds a hellcannon a bsb, a lvl 4 and a lvl 2 all mot.
I did win

You well usually be out numbered but they are awesome in cc.

Marauder horde is also really good and dirt cheap so you may want to hold onto the marauders for now.

Warriors and knights are effective units.


Tzeentch is your best bet in this circumstance. it makes your dudes much more durable.

In a warrior focused list, you have Warriors being your Anvil units. MoK with halberds are faily squishy compared to MoT and Shield. 4+ armor vs 3+/5+

The Knights are the hammer to kill stuff here while the warriors slam and grind. They can have MoK if you wish.

My 2k army has two units of 18 warriors and 2 units of 5 knights... It can definatly hold it's own. Keep in mind that min units of knights with a mark is INSANELY points effective in kills per points, but they will NOT win combats.
Mok make a unit of 5 knights throw out as many attacks as a full warrior unit, and a single mot save pays for the upgrade twice over. No command upgrades should be taken in the format.
The game winners of the army will be your blocks of warriors, so you need to make sure they can get across the field... Warhounds are crucial, I run two min units to delay counter attacks and harass those units that would delay your steely march forward. A bsb is crucial in this setup as your warrirs will churn way more wounds than your opponent, but will lose in static res... And you do NOT want your big blocks faltering if they fluff a round of attacks (always possible with dice).
A strong magic phase reay helps this format as well... Your average warrior is going to be on par with heros of other races, so you don't NEED a super fighter like most armies, although overkill IS underrated! I suggest a level 4 wizard lord, woc have a ton of good lores at our disposal.
The last missing piece of the army I found I needed was some high str attacks, so I run a unit of gw ogres for my last 300 points, but warshrines and hell cannon are also very strong final additions to buff your heavy lifters further, or have some ranged attacks to weaken the foe as your cross the field.

The ONLY downside is that very few armies will meet you halfway, so be prepared to absorb a lot of ranged punishment as you slog into our opponents deployment.

Fantasy: 4000 - WoC, 1500 - VC, 1500 - Beastmen
40k: 2000 - White Scars
Hordes: 5/100 - Circle of Orboros
