Hi all

I'm interested in starting an IG (or maybe traitor guard) army and I've been looking at Pig Iron minis. Are these the same scale as GW stuff? If anyone has a comparison picture that'd be great.

Also, if anyone could tell me how easy it is to cut off the gun the kolony militia have and replace it with a lasgun (or whatever) that'd be helpful too.

Here is a picture of a kolony head on a cadian:

There are a few more in my gallery if you need. They are noticeably smaller than the stock cadian heads - I don't consider this a problem as the cadian heads are pretty damn big. IMO they look a bit more in-scale than most GW heads and the difference should not be noticeable at arms length.

I don't think cutting the gun out of kolony militia would work at all. I have never bought any myself but they are all solid metal minis. You're better off either shaping/adding bits to their guns to make them look 40k, or using GW models as a base and adding heads. I have seen a bloke take some of the kolony militia with chunkier guns and drill holes in the end to form meltaguns (for example) and I'm sure that many of the pig iron models could have GW weapon bits added on. But don't try to cut the whole guns away from the models.

Hope that helps.

I have a bunch of the Kolony Militia. The guns are moulded as a solid block with the rest of the body. You would be better off to make a whole army from them and just say the guns are lasguns. There are several heavy weapon Militia that can be used for plasma guns and the like.

Or add bits as recommended by I-bounty-hunt-the-elderly.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Thanks for the replies. I'm still in the plausibility/planning stage at the moment. I think I might do a traitor guard force and get some of the feral heads for them. They look quite chaos-y.

I use quite a few PIP heads in my Cultists force. In fact, that's WHY I started the force... I bought the PIP heads and they were too small for my Death Guard so I put them on some converted IG / Hive scum/ whatever... and built a new army around them. Check it out through my sig if you are interested.
