Does this act as a multiple barrage weapon (i'm guessing it would act like a salvo strike)?
Or does it act like a multi shot blast weapon?
If so do they all hit the same place - or can I place the markers anywhere within the unit I am aiming at?
If so you do roll to scatter for each shot individually? Or do they all scatter the same way - with each shot being off by the same amount?
Arghh so many questions

Multiple shots. Place and scatter each template separately in the target unit.

As @ cgmckenzie said, also as it's not a barrage weapon you must be sure you have line of sight on the unit you're firing at which is why I try and mount mine in ruins and in as high a place as possible. Edit: probably best that you use the rules for multiple blasts on page 30 of the BGB

I literally just saw it. D'OHHH!
Thanks though guys - sounds like I might be purchasing more than 1 in the near future
Do they get an obscured cover save or a cover save for a techmarine i.e could i give it a 3+ cover save by being behind cover and using bolster defences??

I run 2 against my friends 'Nids he hates it when they come up on the army list (we swap army lists before deployment for a laugh to see the expressions on each others faces, ing Genestealers ). I always put them in cover as that gives the attacking player a drop to I 1 for attacking through cover, meaning that the Techmarine with servo harness will go simultaneously, also yes definitely use Bolster defences as it's always handy to use a cover save of 3+ if they do get to draw a bead on you with anything that can glance or penetrate as it is only AV 10 and one lucky shot sees Mr Techmarine Gunner having nothing to do if all the actions further than he can get in two turns.

The TFC itself does not have to be behind cover. A nice trick is to place the Techmarine in cover, and the TFC out of cover, and it has clear line of sight AND cover saves

Yep, if 50% of the unit is in cover, you get cover. Nids can do the same thing with Hive Tyrant/Tyrant Guard, and Tyranid Prime/Carnifex.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Arghh so many questions
Unfortunately, there are no rules that tell us how to handle a single weapon that fires multiple blasts, just as there are no rules that tell us how to handle a single weapon that fires mutiple barrage (other than one mention in the Eldar FAQ). Both multiple blast rules and multiple barrage rules assume several weapons, each firing a single blast. Based on that one FAQ, the best way to handle it ( IMO) is to use the mode of fire (ie direct or barrage) to determine method of scatter. So in the case of a thunderfire cannon, treat it the same way you would a devestator squad firing four frag missiles.

You can't move artillery to the upper floors in a ruin. There is nothing stopping you from deploying them there, though.
Having said that, a lot of players will frown on units being deployed in places they couldn't legally move to.

The latest main rule FAQ addresses deploying units in terrain they couldn't move through.
Q: Can a unit deploy in impassable terrain? (p92)
A: Not unless it is specifically allowed to move through
impassable terrain.
Now I know that the FAQ specifically addresses impassable terrain, but if you couldn't deploy a unit in impassable terrain unless you could move through it, why would you think you could deploy a unit in terrain like the upper floor off a ruin that it couldn't move in?
Unless you're advocating that a marine player could deploy a whirlwind tank on the top floor of a ruin?

Sure. It just can't move once it's up there.
The FAQ is only addressing impassible terrain. It doesn't address terrain that is only impassible to some units.

It can move in the ruins, just not between floors of the ruin. Completely legal deployment.

Sure it does. If the terrain is impassable to certain units, then where those units are concerned the terrain is impassable.
However, going from memory (sorry, at work and don't have the rulebook on me) ruins aren't actually classed as impassable to certain units... those units are simply forbidden from moving on upper floors. So a rule dealing with impassable terrain simply doesn't apply.
And yes, that allows you to deploy a whirlwind on the top floor of a ruin. It can't go anywhere once it's there, but can certainly be placed there.
Note that this isnt a new tactic... it's been going on since at least second edition. The groups I've gamed with over the years have just explained it as the unit being winched/airlifted/assembled into position before the battle.
