OK dakka, been contemplating this for a long while and thought I'd take the plunge like many others

I have decided after hearing another price rise is due for GW UK prices that enough is enough, I won't buy instore anymore. So my armies are now comprised of eBay purchases and a selection of forgeworld kits. The forgeworld is slightly ironic, I know but it's not plastic after all and they have always been steep so I make an exception

I'm going to feature my Iron warriors, some renegades and even Minas Tirith!! Yes I know LOTR!! Blasphemous!!!

I haven't got a lot show you at the present but over the next day or so I am hoping to have a chaos land raider achilles, a squad of chaos marines and maybe some minas tirith all posted and complete

The overall plan is:

Iron warriors:
Warsmith (Complete)
20-30 Chaos Marines inc. Havocs (missile) (Bought and started painting)
8 Plague Marines (nurgly IW's) (Bought and started painting)
Vindicator
Rhino or two
Defiler (Bought and started painting)
Land Raider Achilles and maybe another regular (Almost complete, tracks to paint and glue and battle damage needed)

Renegades:
A platoon of forgeworld renegades (two squads, command and a heavy weapons team)
Vanaheim Basilisk with renegade crew
Baneblade

Minas Tirith:
Boromir with banner (Bought and started painting)
24 Warriors of Minas Tirith (Bought and started painting)
6 Guard of the Fountain Court (Bought and started painting)
1 Warrior with Banner (Bought)

So as you can see plenty to keep me going, I'll upload a piccy later of what kind of things I can paint and the standard, I'm not bad but I'm always looking to improve

Thanks big fish! Glad you like the painting and your support means a lot. I am hopefully going to show wargamers that even when you don't have a lot of time on your hands you can still make a good looking force that isn't very hard or complicated to paint Sure I will focus extra time on characters and throw in some flashy stuff here and there but when you work most of week as I do it can be really hard to make a force the way you want it and it would be great if I can show people that it can be done

Also while I'm here I'll tell you about a couple of extra's that will feature in this thread. I have a draigo to paint at some point for a very good friend, a helbrecht too. Then there is also a lady I managed to pick up off hasslefree I think, she is naked atm but I'm going to attempt to green stuff her a dress on and she will be a small prezzie for my gf Pictures of the basic model later, warning though there are boobies

Oh and last but definitely not least as I am rather looking forward to making this project, a golden demon entry but I'll keep schtum on that for now......

OK guys a few pictures for you to see.

When I said 'ye olde' in the title I meant it. My standard CSM's are 1996 models, the ones with the metal bodies and the plastic arms, these fella's are only five years younger than me! lol. I really like these models and always have done since I got hold of the 3rd ed. Rule book and saw the scenes between the mordians and the night lords. So I thought it would be cool to use these rugged looking fellas as IW's A mass ebaying war with at least two othesr commenced for about a fortnight and here's what I ended up with:



I've got 2 flamers, a plasma gun, 2 missles, a PF and load of normal dudes. Enough to make what I want for now. The bottom right 8 are IW plague marines, I like the idea of them being all disgustingly pus like as well as this iron defense, shows their humanity.

So a couple of close ups:


Still WIP, not the best close up sorry, need to get a better camera, needs some chevrons and more 'glowy' eyes aswell as grey highlights for the black


Being finecast this wasn't the cleanest cast in the world but it didn't matter being a PM He's just about finished, even managed to get his eye perfect which unfortunately you can't see, need a light box soon me thinks

An then finally this:




Now a lot of you are probably thinking how clean this is, both spikes/chaos wise and dirt wise. The dirt will come but I don't want it too chaosy, seen as the Achilles was made by the IF's this is a captured one that has only has a few modifications done to it before it has been pressed back into service by the dark forces of chaos I think that's pretty reasonable

So there's the start of my IW's endeavour.

Lastly I am making a FW order tonight! Wooooooooooooooo!!
Ordering a renegade torso kit, a renegade weapon kit and then my brother is buying me a vanaheim basalisk shield for the basilisk in my renegade force and a renegade crew to man it for Christmas!

A tiny work lunch time update - I have renegade torso's, weapon's and an artillery crew on they way!

Also my mate is buying me a thudd gun for my renegades for christmas! Very much looking forward to that!

My updates unfortunately for those watching may be few and far between in December as I have two exams right before christmas and that's all at the same time as working two jobs......yay........ But don't worry I'll try my best to get some content up for your eyes to pass over

So I thought I might come back and get on the hobby horse again. Christmas has been incredibly hectic with me becoming unemployed, meeting new family on my better halfs side and then finding and getting a new job as well as other pain in the butt stuff.

This little blog is gonna have a rapid reform over the coming days as my tastes and direction in the last few months have changed MASSIVELY due to various things but hopefully you will all still enjoy a peruse

I have just got hold of the new 'moria and angmar' book for LOTR and it's great!! Especially if you are a moria fan. So I also thought I would grab a new finecast command box and the new king with the silly hat playing spider man. If anyone has any questions about the new book then by all means fire away ( as long as it ain't stats, can't get dakka into trouble!! )

I will explain more about the new moria stuff on my next visit over the weekend

Ok so here is the promised update

I did say that things were gonna be changing and they are pretty big ones to what I had planned for my hobby stuff this year. I am no longer doing chaos marines but still dabbling with FW heretics so don't worry all you skulking in the shadows!

So what have I been up to recently???

Well this is my last purchase:


Well purchases I suppose First GW purchase for a long time seen I as I generally refuse to pay that much for mini's anymore but these weren't too bad values really, especially the command box as the price for the guys included has actually gone down I believe

The book itself is fantastic. Laid out well and all the rules you need are there apart from the universal ones. The missions in the front look very interesting and I look forward to playing a couple

I didn't do too badly out the finecast minatures really, while there is a hole in his cloak and his dagger is a bit bent, Groblag has come out quite well and I can repair him, no fuss. The command box, was also ok, a minor hitch with the shamans face and a little trouble with some chainmail but again nothing too major What's best of all is that I got an extra shaman in the command box!!! I wanted a second one for my list and was disappointed at the thought of having to buy another only to find I had picked a lucky box! WIN!

So here is where I stand:



These are the heroes I have, plus the drum. Durburz is a must due to his decent combat prowess, stock of might (3) and stand fast rule (6" instead of 3"), plan to have him on the frontlines. Then Groblag, who is not all that good in combat is there for his also good stock of might (3 also) and to work in combination with the shamans and the fury spell as his crown means that all fury tests are passed on a 5+!!!! Fighting goblins doesn't look so fun when they 5+ inv's!! I will also be using the two shamans and the drum. The captain will have to amuse himself I'm afraid... no room at the inn......

So here's the horde of gribblies:

And goblin bowmen.

Now my army stands at just under 60 models and then there 16 goblins with shields on sprue for me to build so there's quite a bit to do, hope to have the majority built and based and sprayed by sunday morning but we'll see....
