OK, so biker armies are all White Scar fluffy. So what. Doesn't mean I need to include most of my army with them. I prefer blitzkrieg attacks, hit 'em hard, fast and knock them off kilter. This is why I like the Khan's chapter tactics of furious charge and hit and run. Not because I can have a bunch of yahoos riding around on white bikes spinning wheelies around the game board.

What units do you think are best for White Scars to utilize the chapter tactics?

I think so far I like these units: vanguards, rhinos with tac marines, razorbacks, ONE bike squad, land speeders and land raider filled with terms and the Khan himself. I seem to be lacking big guns though.

Anyone care to share some thoughts and insights?

Scouts with bolters; I can imagine Khan sending recon units to weaken defenses and sabotage supply lines so when the lightning fast assault comes, they won't have to deal with stuff like walls and other defenses which would just repel things like bikers and such.
For more practical use, a pred with maxlazors could be used for an antitank role (all the other stuff in the army will be able to then deal with infantry).

Khan's Chapter Tactics aren't Furious Charge and Hit and Run.

Uhhh... you might not wanna use codex marines to represent white scars.

Blood Angels codex would give you a much better blitzkrieg army, because you have fast vehicles (sure you pay 15 points more for a tac squad in a rhino, but fast vehicles are worth it, and assault squads in rhinos are much better anyway). You also get much better vanguard, and access to furious charge for your whole army from priests.

Space Wolves would give you some interesting options as well... not as familiar with them, but wolf scouts operating as forward scouts behind enemy lines seems to fit with your theme.

Just because you use blood angels or space wolves codex doesn't mean you have to paint them as blood angels or space wolves... my blood angels army is all painted green so far Haven't had any complaints in game, as long as its all WYSIWYG, nobody should have any problems.

O.O

I stand corrected. Thank you Fetterkey. You made me go back and reread, I was mistaken.

Khan's chapter tactic is replacing combat tactics for outflank, including dedicated transports. Only HIS unit gets furious charge and hit and run.

Still, outflank is very sexy.

My original post stands, how can I make a White Scars army work without the bikes?

Thank you for the insight, Horst.

I already play a Wolf army and it is the reason I came to the realization I love the hard blitzkrieg type attack. After playing guard for so long it was just a breath of fresh air! I love it!

I will certainly look into Blood Angels then. Although the White Scars outflanking still appeals very much as well.

Khan is a great character that doesnt get much play in the shadow of vulkan. In my opinion, Khan is better OFF the bike, so this goes with what you were looking for I hope.

Khan and Libby with nullzone+power of choice (avenger is not bad)

5 assault termies (4 THSS 1 LC) in a land raider redeemer with multimelta

2 Tactical squads in rhinos, missile melta fist combimelta

6 Multimelta attack bikers

This gives you a 1500 point force that has the option to outflank with everything. Alternately, you can use the landraider to cover the attack bikes advance, with missile tac combat squads on backfield objectives and the rhino tac combat squads supporting the land raider deathstar. With hit and run the termies can actually get around really fast, and with a libby with null zone and 3 models swinging at s5 init 5/6 most of the teeth will be pulled out of your enemy before the THSS termies mop up.

Can someone explain combat squads in reserve?

i would go for razorback spam. The outflank move is great in the meta, I hate that word, you can win shoot outs by being in range and coming on getting the first shots in the tank vs. tank battles.

Bike armies with outflank are not so needed, they have turbo boost so you'll choose the battles anyway. In fact it is easier to refuse flank without outflank and combat tactics is a god send to bike armies. Still take Khan's command bike squad of death, as it'll make you laugh.

Mfletch you dont combat squad in reserve, you combat squad when deployed. So no splitting your unit to put half in a razor outflanking and half on foot.

The issue with razorbacks for marines is that a 5 man tactical squad is pretty terrible, and the 10 man squad with the razor can not outflank with their transport.

OK assuming that reading of the rules it still works.
Essentially, you could dev. squads with tactical squads at the back to provide cover whilst razorbacks outflank. Or the razorbacks and tactical squads outflank but just separately.

As another Scars player, I've been interested in running Kor'sarro along with a Chaplain attached to a squad of TH/SS termies. The idea of Fearless, 2++ termies with furious charge and hit and run and also get to reroll failed hits due to the chaplain liturgies seems intriguing. An extremely pricey unit though but would destroy most anything it came up against in CC. Toss them into a crusader to drive them around? unfortunately you just spent roughly 700 pts on one hell of a deathstar unit, but curious if it would work well

I must say that the idea of outflanking razorbacks with twin linked assault cannons seems pretty good to me. :-)

Thunderhammer landraiders also because who would want to be near the edges with those around? You might need an avil to draw them into the fight, like say devestators. For 225 points you get 4 missile launcher shots and an outflanking razorback with assault cannons. This would mean that he has to actualy play the first round when you are ariving from reserves, meaning he cannot just drive up to the mid of the biard and pop smoke.
