Too much antimech. Wolf scouts can provide much more than only meltabomb coverage.

Given their tanks have plasma guns already do you want the Grey hunters to take plasma rather some other sort of threat.

Also I think finding the points for the two extra missile launchers would be great.

Good luck.

Not bad I would run Meltaguns instead of plasmaguns on the GH's <unless you expect to see more footsloggers and not alot of mechlists>. I would also work up some points to get my Thunderwolf lord a squad of at least 2 TWC as company<maybe one base and 1 with a SS>. I also shy away from MSU lists, but other than that looks good to me.

Alright, not a bad start, but your list is a little all over the place.

The Wolf Lord, way to much on him and with no TWC units to back him up, expect him to draw ALL anti-tank fire first turn and do nothing but die.

Skim him down and add him to one of your units.

Something like:
Wolf Lord + Wolf Claw, Stormshield, Wolftooth Necklace, 2x Fenrisan Wolves*

*(You could scrap the wolves even since you'll be putting him to a unit anyways and save the 20pts.)

That makes him much cheaper (180pts, *with Wolves, 160pts without) compared to your original which is 255pts.

The Wolf Guard are fine, but since we're changing up the Lord and how he's going to work, let's split them up differently.

Instead of putting all 4 with the GH squads, give 2 of them to the Scouts and 2 to the GH Squads, the remaining 2 GH squads get the Wolf Lord and Rune Priest. Filling them out to their cap of 6 for their transports.

Now, I don't know you're metagame for the armies you'll be facing. But generally speaking Metlagun's on your GH will do you better then Plasmaguns.

Your Scouts, I would drop the Meltabombs and if you're looking to make them scarey add Mark of the Wulfen to one of them with the Metlagun. Since now you'll have in each of those squads, 2 Melta* shots, 2 Powerfist hits and then 1 MotW. That's going to hurt any squad it comes into contact with and most likely pop any tank you run up on with them.

*(2 shots because of the Combi weapon.)

I would change it to something like this:

HQ - 273pts
Wolf Lord - 160pts
+Wolf Claw, SS, WTN, WTT
(Attaches to the 3rd GH)

Rune Priest - 113pts
+Chooser, LL & JotWW
+Storm Bolter
(Attaches to the 4th GH)

ELITES - 372pts
Wolf Guard x4 - 172pts
+Combi-Melta & Powerfist (All)
(2 go with Scouts & 2 go with 1st & 2nd GH)

Wolf Scouts x5 - 100pts
+Meltagun, MotW

Wolf Scouts x5 - 100pts
+Meltagun, MotW

TROOPS - 785pts
GH Squad x5 - 155pts
+Meltagun, Razorback Las/Plas

GH Squad x5 - 155pts
+Meltagun, Razorback Las/Plas

GH Squad x5 - 155pts
+Meltagun, Razorback Las/Plas

GH Squad x5 - 155pts
+Meltagun, Razorback Las/Plas

GH Squad x5 - 165pts
+Meltagun, Razorback Las/Plas
+Wolf Standard

HEAVY SUPPORT - 420pts
Long Fangs Packs x6 - 140pts
+5 ML

Long Fangs Packs x6 - 140pts
+5 ML

Long Fangs Packs x6 - 140pts
+5 ML

1,850pts

That gives you the 2 extra ML's, an extra Troops choice, and nice integration of the Wolf Lord and Rune Priest into the rest of your Army.

Hope this helps. Good luck to you in the tournament.

Cheers~

I agree with Fexor about the Wolf Lord, but not with his solution to the problem. You can use the Wolf Lord if you want, but you will need to ditch some stuff in order to give him a unit of Thunderwolves to lead. Wolf Lords on foot are far too expensive for not much return, so if you want a melee character on foot you should consider Arjac in a Land Raider of some sort.

The primary issue I am seeing with this list is a general lack of solid infantry, and an attempt to make them useful in combat. Grey Hunters are some of the best basic infantry in the game but in such small units they should be avoiding combat at all costs. Except for Necrons and Imperial Guard, those squads will get chewed up by most other units and once their razorback is gone they will be pinned down under enemy fire. Basically what I'm saying is that you should either pick an MSU style list and fill up with 6x units of 5 with a Meltagun and nothing else in a Razorback (no Wolf Guard) or go for a Rhino-Rush style with 8 man units, a Wolf Guard with Combi-Weapon and Power Fist in each one, and a couple of Rune Priests to back them up. Use extra points to give Razorbacks to the Long Fangs and help keep your ranged suppression fire up, and ditch the Wolf Lord entirely.

If you want an MSU list, I'd try something like this:

Rune Priest (Chooser, LL, Jaws) - 110
3 Wolf Guard (3x Power Fist, 3x Combi-Melta) - 129
5 Wolf Scouts (Meltagun, Meltabombs) - 110
5 Wolf Scouts (Meltagun, Meltabombs) - 110
8 Grey Hunters (Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Mark of the Wulfen, Rhino) - 185
5 Grey Hunters (Meltagun, Razorback w/ LasPlas) - 155
5 Grey Hunters (Meltagun, Razorback w/ LasPlas) - 155
5 Grey Hunters (Meltagun, Razorback w/ LasPlas) - 155
5 Grey Hunters (Meltagun, Razorback w/ LasPlas) - 155
5 Grey Hunters (Meltagun, Razorback w/ LasPlas) - 155
6 Long Fangs (5 Missile Launchers, Razorback w/ LasPlas) - 215
6 Long Fangs (5 Missile Launchers, Razorback w/ LasPlas) - 215
Total 1,849

That gives you max scoring units, a large unit to use for counter-assault or objective hunting, a place for your Rune Priest to ride and fire off his powers, and a casting of Jaws in case you run up on Necrons. It maintains everything except for the third pack of Long Fangs but makes up for it with extra Razorbacks. One Wolf Guard goes with each Wolf Scout pack and one with the Rune Priest's pack. If you want more Long Fangs you can drop all of the upgrades off the Rhino pack and the Power Fist off their Wolf Guard, and that should give you enough points to take 3x units of 5 Long Fangs with 4 Missile Launchers in Razorbacks.

Another style of 1,850 list I have been running uses Njal and a swarm of Grey Hunters which is closer to the Rhino-Rush option I mentioned above. It's been working very well for me and I'm quite happy with how balanced the list is.

Njal - 245
Rune Priest (Chooser, Living Lightning, Jaws) - 110
3 Wolf Guard (3x Power Fist, 3x Combi-Melta) - 129
8 Grey Hunters (Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Rhino) - 170
8 Grey Hunters (Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Rhino) - 170
9 Grey Hunters (Meltagun, Wolf Standard, Rhino) - 185
5 Grey Hunters (Meltagun, Razorback w/ TL Las) - 155
5 Grey Hunters (Meltagun, Razorback w/ TL Las) - 155
6 Long Fangs (5 Missile Launchers) - 215
6 Long Fangs (5 Missile Launchers) - 215
Total 1,749

I start with this as a base and tweak it for whatever point level I'm running. At 1,850 I usually add a 3rd Rune Priest or ditch a pair of Long Fangs in order to add a couple of MM/HF Land Speeders. At 2k I add a third pack of Long Fangs in a Razorback, or sometimes I drop two Long Fangs and add a Land Raider and Arjac and attach him to the third pack of Grey Hunters. The list is versatile and strong and I've had a good record with it so far so you might give it a shot and see if it fits your style.

Hope that helps!

@Aldarionn:

I agree your lists are more compliant to the playstyle of MSU, I was just trying to offer more synergy with the units he posted instead of a straight up reconstructed list. Since I don't know what his available models are and how much (if at all) he wants to change them/proxy them. (Assuming all his units are already glued/painted of course.)

That said, your advise is on the money.

Cheers~

^^That list is about spot-on for an MUS list with Thunderwolves. Very clean with nothing missing EXCEPT a single Storm Shield on one of the Thunderwolves. I always make it a point to run Storm Shields on every Thunderwolf these days because I run up on too many missile spam armies that can stack AP3 wounds, and once there is 1 wound all around you start losing important models. That said I cannot think of any clean way to add a 3rd Storm Shield to the unit without dropping Runic Armor and the Chooser of the Slain, both of which are extremely good upgrades, so it's probably the best that can be expected.

Nice list Unholy.

Thanks guys, I'll say this about the Thunderwolves: with 2/3rds of the unit with Storm shields and the attached Lord, if they get murdered by shooting its my own damn fault. I've had that unit absorb almost 1500 points of shooting for several turns with only taking a wound or two.

Play it right and the list I posted will make you feel like the local meanie .
