I'm bored and I will assume others are also bored, so lets have an intelligent debate about the merits of bacon vs. Canadian Bacon (otherwise known as Back Bacon).
Personally I prefer real old fashioned bacon. There's a farm out where I used to live that smokes and makes their own bacon and it is delicious.
What about you? Automatically Appended Next Post: On a side note. I think there should be some kind of scale or measure of the quality of bacon. There's the crap no name brand bacon that's 1/2 water which would be at one end of the spectrum and then there would be God Bacon which I imagine as delicious to no end.

I go to our local wholesalers and buy 500g packs of pre-cooked streaky bacon (is that back bacon?). I can then make a bacon sandwich with just 20 seconds in the microwave. I will be dead by 30
For my money, streaky ftw!

Canadian bacon, or back bacon or gammon bacon is taken from the pork loin, which we in the US typically use for pork chops. That's why it so often comes in a vaguely cylindrical form and is very, very lean.
Conventional US bacon or streaky/rasher bacon is taken from the belly of the hog, which is why it comes in flat 'slabs' and has such a high fat content.
I, personally, prefer belly bacon.
The Best Thing I Have Ever Eaten, however, is a braised pork belly. When done right, the pork belly has almost a candied flavor and the fat is melt-in-your-mouth full of flavor. There is just enough lean meat in belly to give a very pleasant conssitency, like a delicate, flavorful bacon steak. Korean-style BBQ with a pork belly is an amazing dish, and by limiting ourselves mostly to belly as a breakfast meat in the USA we really do miss out on different ways to enjoy belly.

Eggs and bacon rolled up in pancakes? That's the only way to do it.

In Germany we used to have a thing called Hawaiian Toast, which I don't think I have ever seen in the states:
Take a piece of toast, place a slice of ham on top, then a ring of pineapple, then cover with a slice of cheese.
Pop underneath the broiler for a minute or stick it in a toaster oven, enjoy your toast.

It can come from the ham, but more commonly from the loin-end. Ham typically ends up as the breakfast meat of the same name.

All this talk of bacon made me forget about pork roll.
Which are incredibly awesome and are second only to bacon.

I apologize for all of Canada when people associate Molson Canadian with good beer, it's crap. Try the following: Tree Breweries ( BC interior), Philips Breweries(Vancouver Island), Granville Island (Vancouver), Unibroue - they make ridiculously strong beer (9%) (Quebec)

Canadian bacon is for sammaches and delicious at that. Going off taste I go with bacon, but if I'm actually hungry and need something filling I'm going with a sandwich with Canadian bacon. Oddly, I don't like bacon on my sandwiches, but its wonderful by itself.

Well, thanks for the suggestion, but I think it's a decent beer - all a matter of opinion, ya know? I'm still looking for that specific kind, though

I prefer Bacon and his fattier, fresher sister Pork Belly, but then again I just enjoy pig... I would have to leave any country/religion where I was not allowed to touch Pork
Also d-usa, my dad and I do that all the time, though more often than not, we use thin, grilled slices of spam, but the deal is still the same
