Here we have Will’s Mech Blood Angels against Ian’s Ork army. This is a league battle for our East bay Wargamer’s league, and we wanted to mix it up a bit from all the Necron reports we’ve been running. Never fear though, we will be coming back to the Crons very soon! We just wanted to provide a little variety.

That was not the outcome I was expecting looking at the two lists, especially with the results the BA player had on the second turn. I think rushing Meph in to deal with the Dreadnoughts was a poor tactical choice as he has no invulnerable save and they can wound him very easily. Even if he has initiative if he fails to knock their weapons off or destroy them they can put some significant hurt back on him as we saw. I think having him go after infantry would have been a much better play.

Overall the Ork player played a lot better I think, but the Dawn of War deployment hurt the Blood Angels as he could not scout move his Baal Preds up the board for a turn 1 cover save and potential alpha strike.

Color me surprised.

Yeah no kidding, we all thought the same thing. Will is a really good player, too, so it was a shocker, but well played to Ian! He got it done with an unconventional list.

How do you park a Battlewagon on top of a shipping container?

A very good question, but assuming they just considered it difficult terrain like everything else, it would be no different than driving it into a forest. That's why it's important to discuss terrain with your opponent before the game starts, because if they had ruled it impassable it would have made a big difference.

They were playing it as difficult.

Flamestorm and vindi in there to counter the scarab farm lists? Only ask because I do not see flame used much.

Falmestorm would be brutal. BA going first with scouting BAALs would do well, but they run the risk of the 4+ seize and getting owned.

Vindis? It depends on cover. With adequate cover, the Scarabs are getting a 3+ and not many of them die.

They are such a hard unit to kill if you don't have tools to kill them.
