Hey,

I was thinking and there's been talk of the new Warhammer 40k 6th Ed starter set, I've heard it could be dark angles VS dark eldar.

So i was wandering what you've heard about the 6th Ed?

There's loads of rumours, I saw somewhere CSM vs. BT.

New rumors also indicate Fall of Damnos, that is, Marines vs. Necrons. With the Necrons re-released so recently, I'm not sure if this is more or less likely though.

i'd say less likely purely becuase they have just been released

The rumour for CSM vs BT makes more sense when I look at this then, as CSM and BT are likely to be released just after 6th ed, so they would makes sense as choices in the box. Tau and Eldar might also make sense in place of one or the other as well, as they must be due new codexes (codi?) soon too.

I can't see them being specifically BT or DA, probably generic marines though.

They've been Generic Marines in every previous version of the game (They were Blood Angels in 2E, but that was before Blood Angels had their own rules, and thus were Generic Marines).

I don't see that changing, as much as a change of pace like IGuard would be cool. Problem is, there's only so much space in a box to put sprues of figures.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

Much as I would like to see CSM get in there, I would think it'd be a xenos army. Primarily because the starter box is kinda meant to show both sides of the coin: the marines and the "weird" xenos codices with non-marine statlines and rules. Aside from some wargear and options, CSM and Marines are fairly similar codices. The last three starter boxes had Marines fighting Orks, Tyranids and Dark Eldar, respectively, if I'm not mistaken.

Maybe Tau or Eldar will see some love?

According to the informed guesswork of my local Redshirt, the staffers reckon it will be Dark Angels (who will not, so the story goes, receive a new codex, instead becoming vanilla Marines again) against Chaos. It sounds plausible, but who knows...

When the 6th edition comes out do all the rulebooks and codices become old so you have to spend a fortune on the new ones?

And since he'll be plastic grey anyway (as most marine players i've met refuse to paint their marines, so that they can codexswap at a moment's notice/sell for more on ebay) it doesn't really matter what they are 'supposed' to be

What?! No more deathwing assault, awesome ravenwing rules or being able to take amazing termy squads for ridiculously cheap prices?! I shall mourn thee deeply...

I definately hope there will be some funky xenos which we haven't seen yet. As much as it would be interesting to not have any marines in there, I doubt GW will take that leap of faith.

Ive heard it's going to be 'CSM vs Eldar' and of all the rumors out there, i hope it's this setup the starter set is gonna be.

No. Just a brand new sparkling Rulebook. Codecies will be indate until their 6th edition one comes out. Tourneys and GW games will require you to play in 6th edition but friendly games and casual players can just hang back in 5th edition for a bit until they feel like making the jump to 6th. If both sides are fine ith casual games in 5th who's to say you cant? I stayed in 4th edition for about 6 months with my fiends because we didnt feel like dropping 50 bucks on a new rulebook.

I too would be saddened; the inference I took from his remarks was that Belial and Sammael (and thus Deathwing and Ravenwing) would migrate to the vanilla codex.

For now, however plausible, it's just a rumour, so I shan't worry yet.

So what youre saying is I could make a deathwing army still, just not in the Dark Angels codex. Belial and Sammel will be special chars in the vanilla codex?

i wouldn't want the DA to move to a vanilla marines book, that would not be so great.

As long as I can have belial, sammuel, and azrael I don't care what codex it hides in. I can use generic codex with pure dark angels and call it a day.

Yeah, I would think that DA have enough of a following that they warrant their own codex. That and they are the first chapter

I wonder if GW realizes that alot of the terminator boxes they sell are for DW armies.

i say it'd be bad but really it would be dark angle Awesome characters and rules combined with the normal, cheaper pointed space marines, that is win!
