So, how does the OT like their coffee? Hot, cold? Pitch black and bitter, or creamy and smooth? Iced? By the shot, or by the pot? Milk, cream, creamer, sugar?

Decaf?

Grind your own beans? Buy grounds? K-cups? Or just pick it up at Starbucks?

Do tell.

For me, it's the darkest roast I can find, straight black. I do tend to forget about making it though, so by the time I drink it, it's lukewarm to room temperature.

I like any non-decaf coffee, even that gakky kind that you get for free at places.

When I drink coffee for the sheer joy of it, I buy Starbucks Vienna ground Turkish fine and percolate it. Cream and sugar or a vanilla caramel just to lighten if up.
Over in the Box if it's warm I could give two gaks what it is or whats in it, I probably have a chew in anyways.
My wife and I have found that the Masters Choice or whatever, cheapest coffee at wal mart is more than acceptable for daily use.

Coffee is a colonial heathen drink, and despite the number of upstart Brits (usually effete and sporting a beret) who have taken up the drink, I do of course refuse to drink it, and stick with milky tea, beer, or typhoid laced drinking water from the communal barrel at the back of my workhouse.

We are arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS, who is fighting Iran, who is fighting Iraq who we also support against ISIS, while fighting Kurds who we support while they are fighting Syrian rebels.

My girlfriend introduced me to making it in one of those little pots you put on the hob, and that's quickly become my favourite way to drink coffee. As a rule of thumb, black, no sugar, never instant. Instant tastes like pencils. AMT is the only place in Oxford that does decent paper-cup coffee.

See joking aside this is what Im talking about with the trendy jibe. Coffee I have always singled out because I hate the mind numbing trendy commericals for the big brand places in the USA, and when you visit one of them everyone looks like they are extras in a music video, and men sit editting porn on their IPads and they drink "mocco choco caramel crunch mint frappacacco" or whatever the feth they call them.

I hate music snobs and clothes snobs and gamer snobs and well.. in 2011 there is a snob for everything, you cant just DO gak anymore, you have to do it "properly" apparently. Like the tits in trendy wine bars who insist the beer is in the branded glass.

Ive had "proper" coffee, Ive had instant coffee. Its not like its THAT big a difference. How does it taste like pencils?!

Macdonald's coffee, Starbucks coffee, Morrisson's instant coffee.. its all the same to me, I occasionally drink it, I don't really see the difference. Isn't it just coffee snobs insisting we are brutes if we don't "appreciate" it properly?!

In a nutshell, if I'm thirsty ill drink anything, I care not what brand it is or what container it is in, and if its got booze in it ill drink it out of a tramps shoe.

You think it tastes the same? It really doesn't to me. And the majority of instant I've had has a strange... pencilly taste. Can't explain it any better than that, I'm afraid. The taste reminds me of the smell of pencil shavings. This might strike you as snobbery, but simply put, I don't like how the other stuff tastes. I don't like how McDonald's coffee tastes, I don't like how Starbucks coffee tastes, I don't like how instant coffee tastes so I'm not going to drink it. Call me a snob? Fine, I'm a snob. But I'm still not going to be shamed into drinking gak coffee just for fear of being branded a snob or a hipster. I've only got so much space in my guts and I want to enjoy putting things into it, not just tolerate them.

You know that coffee was the national drink over in England/Britain until about 300 years ago, right? Coffee houses have a much older history, and were the first places to serve it.

mattyrm wrote:Ive had "proper" coffee, Ive had instant coffee. Its not like its THAT big a difference.

See, this is just like someone who isn't into beer saying there's no big difference between good and bad beer. Or the same about whisky or vodka. I'm not a big coffee guy, but I drink it regularly and drink a lot of the cheap stuff. I'm not crapping on it, but I do notice a big difference between it and good coffee.

I prefer Tea, I take "baby tea" according to one of my friends (ie tea with lots of milk, no sugar.)

For coffee I don't really care, as long as there's milk in it. I do also have a penchant for Mocha's, but there you go!

And the taste.. can't stand it.

I agree with both posts and add that I also go for flavored cappuccino on occasion. Never enjoyed the flavor of coffee, no matter how many different variations of cream or sugar I tried.

Dark roasts taste burnt to me, and the lighter roasts have way more caffine (look it up darker roasts burn off most of the caffine which is why espresso has to be so damn syrupy).
