Hello everyone! And sorry if this has already been answered anywhere else, just kindly direct me to it, and I will read it

I had a couple of questions. I've been watching a couple of painting guides on youtube, and noticed that people might be using several different types of painting (Different companies). A friend of mine is using P3 for instance, and I've had some Citadel before. Then I found a local hobby shop where he had a 3rd kind, there was even a comparison chart for osme of the more popular paints, for 50% cheaper then Citadel paintings. My question is, which should I use? I realise you don't need to buy the same amount of paint as when painting a real life house, I just feel it a real shame to pay 4 euro for 12ml if I can pay 2 euro for 18ml for instance. Any suggestions? If it's not Citadel, I'd apreciate it if it's easy to find a comprehensive comparison chart so I take every Citadel color, and buy the right color of whatever kind you would advice me to use.

Any advice on brushes as well? I don't mind buying from the web. I can order from GW online shop, and also from Amazon.co.uk if need be.

Also, if there are any seriously good Skaven painting videos out there that you know of, don't hesitate to show me the way. I've been watching a video from Girlpainting on youtube, which was really good in my eyes.

Thanks in advance!

There's a paint range compatibility chart here on Dakka:

http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/Paint_Range_Compatibility_Chart

For which paint's to use I'd recommend Vallejo. They're cheaper than GW, offer all of the same colors and then some, and their dropper bottles are much better design than GW's paint pots.

That said GW's foundation and wash lines are very good so if you complement those with the Vallejo paints you'd be off to a great start.

Paintbrush wise if your just starting out Gw's brushes are a good starting point. Though eventually your going to want to move onto more high end brushes. I'd recommend the Windsor and Newton Series 7 line. They're great quality and I use those for almost everything. I think you can get them on Amazon aswell.

Thank you very much for the informative post! I was actually thinking the same thing about the washes and foundation. I don't mind using Citadel, and using some of their paintings, I just know there might be better alternatives out there, when it comes to their paint. Also price wise. I will definitely check those brushes out as well. Thanks again!

Edit: Also, when you say Vallejo, does it matter if I use what they call Model color, or Game color?

There's not a lot of difference between them really. Game color basically just mimics Gw's paints and Model colour has some more colours but the paint is a bit thicker (it has more pigment) so needs some extra shaking/thinning.

Your best just going with the Game color range if your starting out.

I've been looking around, seems like I won't save any money, I'd actually be spending more, if I have to buy them. I'll be checking some local shops one of the following days, but do you happen to know of any european retailers with free shipping? If not I might just be going with the citadel colors since that's what I can get. I live in Denmark if that happens to help you.
