So I am familiar with the terms Gunline and Assault armies. Gunline being line up practically Gentleman’s War style and fill the air with all the Dakka you can muster, and keeping your CC units ready for countering enemy assaults. Assault on the other hand is a mostly CC army that charges forward to cut the enemy down. So my guess is a Mech build is kind of a balance of the two? I am guessing they are highly mobile and flexible armies that of has a plan for any situation. If someone wouldn’t mind clearing things up it would be much appreciated!

Mech builds are focussed on having little or no infantry on the table at any one time - so primarily shooty,but usually with some form of counter assault capabiltiy (e.g. death cult assasins, purifiers) if needed.

Yeah,
Gunline = Primarily Infantry Shooting.
Assault = Primarily CC
Mech = Primarily Vehicles.
A general 'balanced' army is just that, a regular mixed force.

Mech, derived from the term Mechanised, meaning to to roll around in vehicles and stomp out everything with cannons, and then jump out and mop up the rest with infantry
