Hey guys,

So this might be a silly idea and I prolly won't do it with my actual GK army... but I made a sort of joke at my wargaming club that kind of stuck with me.

I said that a way to make your GKs 'lame' and 'more like Jedi' could be if each individual's psychic talent manifests in their force weapons individually (so they're all cool and unique!); is this fluffy?

By that I mean, it would give you an opportunity to paint unique weapon effects on each GK... ranging from flames, to cracking molten lava, to Necron(ish) greens on blacks, to Lightning, etc.

I don't know that I think it'd look good to have such cracks in your army's uniformity and hell, it'd prolly only work if it was based on the fluff... but what do you guys think of the idea?

And do Psykers' talents manifest in force weapons differently? Can they be 'fiery' or just covered in a black shroud? Do Psykers even manifest their powers in different ways or is 'warp energy' always lightning or something similar? Do we see flames/hyperbeams depending on the dude?

Probably work

Each of my GK have differently painted force weapons, but they have a similar general theme. They're all shades of blue. I have a couple with lightning going down them also, but that's because those Knights have 'activated' their weapons at that point.

Just gotta watch out for those guys with the red force weapons.

And to OP - I don't know if a psyker's power 'project' like that - but it'd be pretty damn cool to see a Grey Knights force with each Force weapon colored differently - a menageries of reds, blues, greens, yellows, purple, tie-dye, black, etc. It'd be a nice standout from an army that's predominately red/silver.

The powers manifest differently, you have telekinesis (moving stuff with your mind) pyrokinesis (setting stuff on fire with your mind, scrying (seeing the future) etc, so I dare say the blades may vary in appearance from psyker to psyker

Only Chaos has access to red force weapon crystals. They only occur in the Eye of Terror.

Blast, you're right. I should have painted them all green, because the green lightsa-err, force weapon beats the red one.

You know what? Screw it, this whole time I've been thinking about elaborate patterns like magma, flames, energy, lightning, etc... I may just go for pretty shaded blades of different block colours alá lightsaber... it could look quite pretty!

Not entirely fair - the GWAR reject had a two-to-one lightsaber ratio advantage.

And Henners, when you get the army painted up, I'd love to see it. Oh - idea! Blacklight paint.

Odd. That looks like a scene from a Star Wars movie, yet I can't place it as being from any movie of the trilogy...

Huh. Must have been a fan made movie. Pretty impressive special effects, all things considered.

And let's not forget what colour the weapon that cut him in half was.

My Sorceror has a multicoloured Force Weapon. Then again, he serves Slaanesh, so...

Since GKs are supposed to train as a squad to focus their psychic powers I'd have each squad with the same colour to theirs but with potentially different effects (flame, lightning, etc) but otherwise a cool idea, Terminator squad A has blue, Termie squad B has orange, HQ has purple, etc

But then again each Nemesis Force Weapon is uniquely attuned to their own weapon, so only it's chosen bearer can fully activate it. Furthermore, each knight selects their type of weapon to suit their own preferences. Personally, I do like whole squads to share characteristics (such as Insignium Valorus designs) but it's ultimately up to the player.
