Here's the Chapter Master for my homegrown chapter, the White Swords.

In-game he's a Pedro Kantor stand-in.

The base is decorated as it were during a section of the chapter's background, when 6/10ths of the chapter defected to Chaos at a time when the entire chapter was together for ceremonial and remembrance purposes. Chapter Master Ontario Virgil had to assemble the surviving loyalists to fight the traitors as well as locking down the Fortress-Monastery so that no renegades could escape to the densely populated Hive outside.

It is very nice, except for the flames. In that I agree with the poster above. They lack depth and are also slightly see-through due to being (I think?) a single layer of white.

If you were to paint them flames light grey foundation first, then go over most of the grey with white, I think it would be fully opaque and have more depth.

By the way, I am much better at telling other people how to paint than actually doing it myself, so feel free to ignore me!

(edit: Also, the actual shape of the flames is very good - and that is hard to do - I am impressed by that)

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.
