Anyone done the number-crunching to see what the bulk saving is on these sets?

Retail for the High Elves is 263, so you are saving about $50 which is about a 19% savings, nothing great,

Are LGS's able to order these or are they online only? If so then another 20-30% off would be nice.

"Nothing great", really?
Most LGSes which give discounts only give in the realm of 20-25% off to begin with. That's nothing to sneeze at for a retail price.

The internet is home of 30% off any day of the week, which is why 20% from the people who make the damn things is nothing great.

Now, like I said, IF an LGS can sell them at another 20% off then there is a point to buy it. The ONLY reason to buy it as is would be if you just happened to need the exact models in the bundle which is unlikely(not everyone wants a dragon, a noble and mage box would have been far better).

Also I should mention that the HE box isn't even a valid playable army as it stands.

It needs another 150 points of core to be valid in 2000 points which is the smallest you can get a dragon in for.

The internet has basically made people expect every store give them 30-40% discounts all the time.

I don't expect physical stores to do their in house sales at that, but if they are selling on the internet, 30% is what it will take to get my business as that's what I already get GW for with $6 flat rate shipping.

Now when I go to my LGS I'm willing to spend a little more as it's paying for the gaming space they provide, so I don't mind the extra few dollars.

The boxsets are good deals, compared to current GW prices. I ordered mine from mikhaila and got a further 30% off, making my space marine box about 50% off after shipping instead of buying everything separate. The man is a hero to the warhammer community.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Shopping at an independent retailer with American Express you can get the 113 model Skaven set for $172. That's truly a bargain.

The price, compared to retail, is fine, but each kit includes some choices that not every player will want in their army.

If you want everything in the box, than it's a great deal.

As a BT player, I have use of EVERYTHING in the space marine box. It's practically a steal for me!

We don't get the Land Speeder Storm as Black Templars. However, everything else is good for Templars.

I saw that deal posted by mikhaila and seriously thought it over. No way I would have bought one otherwise. If the megaforces include a single model in the box that you don't really need for your army, you would wipe out the basic discount of the megaforce over standard boxes. Adding mikhaila's discount to the mix and the megaforces got serious consideration from me. Still was a pass though as I don't have plans to start any of those armies.

I'm surprised, borderline amazed, that someone hasn't posted "of course they're not good deals. Stoopid GeeDub should be paying us to take that stuff!" yet.

Well, there was the "40% off" post. Close enough I guess.

Skaven set would cost £202 if bought all separately and the army box costs £130. That's around a 35% saving.

High Elf set would cost £215 (and get 12 more archers as they come in sets of 16, not 20) individually, so a saving of about 37%.

Space Marine set would cost £190 if bought individually so the Megaforce is a saving of around 31%.

Dark Eldar set would be £204 so saving of 36%.

So, the Space Marine set is the worst deal maths-wise but, as it is also probably going to be the best seller, that's a very smart marketing move by GW.

I waswondering if someone was going to post this. I'm just going to use it as a regular LS and give it mIssile launchers and use the extra scouts as converted ones on foot. If this isn't possible (haven't seen bare sprue) I can trade it for something else. Still BEYOND awesome.
