Here's the thing...im a fluffy kinda guy when it comes to armies, and even though i love the look of Necrons, Matt just cant write fluff...some people have it and some dont its whatever. Fact is I got all stoked up to play a new army and right now my options are short, i play Tyranids at the moment and am itching to start my 2nd army, but anything Ward's gotten his hands on is off limits, Orks and Imperial Guard arent my style at all, And my Best friend plays Deamons, DE and CSM. SO, That leaves Eldar and Wolves (Tau is coming out soon enough i can wait or should i say i cant wait? But anywho...) And everyone keeps telling me how unforgiving Eldar are to play which is depressing, because i LOVE them...but i dont wanna pay a lot of money to build them just to get disgusted with losing. Which brought me to Wolves, the only Marine army thats not Chaos that i respect. But aside from thunder wolf Cav and Long fangs i have no idea what to run, Any ideas for me?

1.) The Newcron codex is well written. Stop being dumb, acquire the new codex, and read it for yourself.

2.) Pick Eldar and learn to win. If you're a good player, winning with Eldar should be no problem.

3.) Thunderwolf Cavalry and Long Fangs, perhaps some razorbacks.

1.) I bought the codex the day it came out. Ive been reading it ever since, Im very unimpressed with the stories and SEVERAL units, They have potential on the table, but in my very honest opinion i dont like the fluff.

2.) My gaming store is very competitive and im very impatient so im probably gonna end up with Wolves. Even though i really do love Eldar. Once again, just being bluntly honest

3.) Thanks for the feedback but you got a little bit self contradicting right there at the end...

A fun combo is Logan Grimnar and Long Fangs, as the Relentless he gives means you can do all kinds of damage on the move.

I vote that you play Eldar over Space Wolves.

C'mon, everyone plays MEQs, and being part of the majority is so boring!

I agree that the fluff in the necron codex is lacking in excitement or intrigue. it's not all terrible but much of it reads like a text book. That being said I am a wolf player and am starting a necron army, looking for change of scenery. While the fluff in the wolves codex seems to be more grandiose, the external fluff surrounding both armies abound in dramatic riveting fiction. There are two space wolves omnibuses and for necrons read "dead men walking" and "fear the alien". As far as fluff within a wolf list mark of the wulfen is a must take. Such a raw force of savagery exemplifies the wolf army. Rune priests provide an incredible amount of both offensive a defenseive abilities. wolf scouts are probably one of the most fun units in the dex with there ability to come storming onto table from any eddge

Which, trust me, is a complete waste of 275pts (even in Dawn of War, I'll sacrifice that turn of shooting taverymuch!). He won't get to where he needs to be, i.e. the front lines, quickly enough. Give him some Wolf Guard and tag him with Arjac and watch the carnage ensue.

The only use I can see for the LF/Grimnar combo is if they're in a DP and all the LF's have MM's. Not really a constructive use of them IMO.

Losing with Eldar?! I very seldom lose with mine. Victories and draws but not many loses. I've been playing them since 2nd ed and it does take some tactics and a good army build but I think your info is told to you wrongly. I play against space pups all the time and send them running with their tails tucked with my Eldar and DE. As with any army, learning how deploy and move them tactically is a learning process but easily overcome. Play what you love for fun, leave the winning and losing for others. Hell I play my Night Goblins in fantasy all the time cause they are fun not to win. Hope this helps.

Razorbacks are fun, but maxed Grey Hunter packs are great. Personally, I consider the Wolf Standard and Mark of the Wulfen to be must-buys for every pack I run.

Go with eldar they will be more fun in the long run bro. Its more fun to play an army that is hard. But when you master it it is more the worthy. You've seen me play Dark Eldar and the fun I'm having with that. Also quick reference I'm the friend that feeder says plays Daemons, Dark Eldar, and Chaos Space Marines.

NO> why. because the codex is rediculously lacking of balance. one of the most OP codex ever. though i think that it could be ok to play in freindly games if you only took the weakest units, i have never seen it played like this. when i see SW now on the table i always think cheese. DOnt do it. IMHO freinds do not let friends play the wolf cow.

Only OP if you use an OP list... admittedly very easy however.

In the end play the army you want to play and have fun with. Not what a forum crybaby thinks you shouldn't play.
