Howdy all,

So I'm letting a buddy borrow my BA this weekend for a tourney and he wanted to run DoA... which I actually found I have the models to do! This is my first time making a DoA list; here goes!

HQ

Librarian - Shield, Lance - 125 pts
5x Honor Guard - 4x Meltas, priest, JP's - 205 pts

Elite
------
3x Sang Priests - JP's - 225 pts

Troops
--------
10x AM's - Packs, 2x melta, PF - 235 pts
10x AM's - Packs, 2x melta, PF - 235 pts
10x AM's - Packs, 2x melta, PF - 235 pts

Fast Attack
-------------
5x Vanguard vets - TH, PW, Packs - 195 pts
5x Vanguard vets - TH, PW, Packs - 195 pts
5x Vanguard vets - PF, LC, Packs - 195 pts

Total: 1840 pts

General ideas: 1 priest per AM squad, honor guard DS's close to where the vets will be. Vets drop and charge; the TH/PF's for tanks, PW's will whittle down things like Longfang packs quicker. Lots of meltas (if they combat can take down 7 targets a turn on a good round), and killy goodness.

Zid, you're actually clocking in at 1835, as a PF is 5 points cheaper than a TH. So, you could throw 1 Meltabomb in each VV squad on an otherwise naked dude.

Otherwise, looks good. I think the way you've kitted out the VV squads is the right way to go. You have enough punch to really beat up anything that isn't a dedicated CC unit, but keep them cheap enough to work.

You could drop FNP for 225 pts of VG, I cant roll for everytime I make a FNP roll and against top tier players FNP is usually nulled.

How about only taking two vanguard squads so they can be beefed up or just make really strong then have one for light foes. For me vanguard are needed to be tough defeat the enemy cc monsters, as such they need as much help as possible.

Also one assault squad being armed with flamers and powerweapon is a good idea for tournament play to give you an antiifantry squad.

Issue is; against a competative Mech list you need to drop multiple tanks at a time to successfully deal with them. I agree with the Flamer idea; however, I feel that your first 3 squads should ALWAYS be melta squads, with a fourth being anti-infantry. AM's are great AI in their own right when they charge in

Triple Vanguard is actually my hard counter to Longfang wolves, and any army that sits a squad in the backfield to hold objectives (looking at you Solodins!)
