For some time now, I plan to write a blog to motivate me to build my new army. Here it is.

I started Death Korps of Krieg soon after I played a few games with the new WD sisters.
I think the new "codex" lacks character and flavor, so I decided to wait for a potential true codex, before seriously returning back to SoB.

From this time, I am slowly building a DKoK force. I am not a good painter, but I take pleasure to work on these first squads and miniatures, at my poor leveL
For the first time, I also bought resin bases, representing trenches.

A small extract from the fluff of this army, that I play against friends during our campaign (I posted this on an another thread before - more will be coming)

Division Brandenburg is a prestigious siege army of the Death Korps of Krieg. It is well known for its ability to effectively carry out the assault on strongholds or difficult shock points, playing a pivotal role for other IG armies. It's been three campaigns that it kept the same main structure, composed of 11 regiments. Since its formation, the Brandenburg Division is under the responsibility of Generalleutnant Siegfried von Köln.

After 499.990M41, Division Brandeburg was sent in Cygnus System, sub-sector Amarillo - Segmentum Pacificus, to help Saumurians IG regiments against the rebellion of Ecclesiarch Di Secrudo on the heavy fortified Hive World of Cygnus Prime. Unfortunately, war began to spread through the entire system quickly, and IG armies are now stuck in a much larger conflict, involving Chaos Space Marines from Pilgrims of Woe and Disown Sons and...Tyranids. Space Marines reinforcements from three chapters are also on the edge to join the ever-extending bloodbath.

Division Brandeburg organization :
91st, 151st and 102nd Infantry Regiments of the Death Korps of Krieg
121st and 201st Siege Regiments of the Death Korps of Krieg
21st, 29th and 444th Artillery Regiments of Death Korps of Krieg
9th and 41st Armored Regiments of Death Korps of Krieg
4th Battle Tank Regiment of the Death Korps of Krieg

At the moment, this is what I have
:

3 DKoK Commissars (3 painted - 1 not by me)
4 DKoK Infantery Squads (1 painted, 1 pending, 2 NIB)
3 DKok LasCanon HWT (Pending)
8 Heavy mortars (NIB - they are 20cm Schwere Feldhaubitze 38 from Kromlech)
3 Heavy Artillery Pieces (Built - they are 1:32 Howitzer from Ultimate Soldier)
1 Hadès Breaching Drills entirely built by a friend from scratch and great looking ! (based and primed)

And here are some of my first finished miniatures (keep in mind that this is faaaaaaaaaar better that everything that I had painted before )

Squad at ease with 2 Commissars

(Do not mind "Atlas Shrugged" book opened under the shelf ! )

I will post some more pictures, as soon as I get back my camera from work.
This evening and tomorow, I plan to finish my second squad, and begin to paint HWT.

Thanks for reading !

A lot of work, these days... hard to have time for the hobby... But I have a game or two this week-end, these are the first for a long time !

I painted one more squad, a firing one. Basis texture was already done when I bought them (they were primed too), so I worked quickly on these men...

At least, I have 20 DKoK Soldiers and 2 Commissars now.

Next are the HWT !

I love the at-ease squad, such a great group of models and a nice paint job too.

Nice work brighter than normal for krieg but still gritty. Looking forward to seeing the Mortars.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Thanks for all these comments !

My DKoK longcoats are painted with Camo Kaki, so, yes much brighter than what we can see usually.

It took me so much time to decide an original (at least a little) paint scheme... but I am happy with the final showing of miniatures.
Devlan Mud and the "terracotta/terre cuite" Prince August paint (for the mud) are a big part of it.

Heavy Mortar are not my top priority atm, because I still don't have crew and basis for them !

But step by step, I will progress on this project

Hey Grenat =) I really like the gritty feel to these with the semi random placement of colour on the coats. One thing i would think about is the bases. i think a wash and a dry brush, as well as touching up the sides (in black?) or just brown again would really help polish these off.

Keep 'em comin!

Hey S'jet ! Thanks for posting here

I had a problem with the last squad bases, because I bought the miniatures already assembled and based. So, I only did the minimum, compared to the squad at ease (on which one I used Devlan Mud at least).
My next two infantry squads (at ease and firing) are still not built, so I will paint them on sprue, and bases separately !

I have a three-ways 750pts game with the Brandeburg division (against MEQ I presume) this saturday. I am not sure I could take photo, because of the very bad ligthning conditions with usually play in. But, I will try if I found a good enough camera.
