Uh, so I figure I should introduce myself before I get a postin'.
I'm a longtime lurker here, and have used the site for inspiration for my modelling, but I find myself in need of a motivator to keep some projects moving along. I don't really do the gaming side of things anymore - Too many disagreeable folks that ruin the fun. Basically I model and I paint, then everything goes on the shelf to collect dust. My current project is a Tyranid force. I'm in love with some of their models, and a lot of the fluff, but the problem I find is that the models I hate are attached to the fluff I love. That's why I want to go about fixing that. Currently working on a Zoey that actually looks like a Tyranid to me, as opposed to some sort of foetus with chitin. Uh, yeah, so *waves* Hi.

I'm not a big fan of some of the newer 'Nid models either. Did you get your hands on a 2nd Ed Zoeanthrope? I really like those better.

As cool as those 2nd ed Zoeys are, they don't fit the theme I'm (attempting) to maintain - Snakes and Stealers.
I do much prefer the older ones to the current ones though. I mean, why can't a psychic also have a functional body? Surely that's less resource intensive from a Tyranid point of view - They've got the biomass to give it some sort of locomotive muscle, so do it!
I'll get pics of the WIP body once I find my camera. It's basically a trimmed and reshaped rav tail under a Lictor body. That and a beefed up Lictor head will give this guy a visual link to the Malanthropes and Venomthropes, but he'll still be nice and small as befits a psychic artillery piece. I'll probably start with my two paint schemes though, dunno whether to go with gritty grimdark or glowy-alien
