The Big Game is back! And this year our goal is ONE MILLION points. Last year we set the record for the biggest game at 739,247 points, and we have over 2.3 million points world wide!
This year we have 15 locations and anyone can host a game. For the latest:

So, when you have a game that big, is it really even a game? It seems like the tables would be so crowded, that it would just be a non tactical death-fest.
Not that it wouldn't be cool, but, I have some concerns about how a game that big would play.

Sounds ridiculously awesome, if not cumbersome!
Although I can think of something even crazier
Get as many stores/clubs as possible in the ENTIRE world, get the most amount of Deathstrike missiles as possible, have the worlds largest 40k DEFCON game

It could literally become an ICBM. If I can make a shooting attack against a unit on the other side of the world: why not?
I could finally make use of my whole GK terminator force.

It's really not a game at that high of a number. My FLGS just had a 270,000pt game with timed rounds and it was really difficult to get what you needed done. Our corner only became a true game after we removed the Emperor class titan from it. I've seen battlereports of other "biggest" apoc games (specifically one where people just lined baneblades and other superheavies and tanks on the floor of a mall across from each other)... they just end up having little to no movement as most everything starts in range and people just screaming across the lines how many vehicles to remove.

Yes there are different records. (We set all three)
Most Points in a Single Game
This requires all models to participate in a continuous game on one table interconnected or otherwise. All models must be painted (3 colors + based) and the game must last 4+ turns over an unbroken time period (eg-with some breaks, but no "pause and come back the next day").
The Big Game, Los Angeles Battle Bunker, January 22, 2011, 739,247
Most Points in a Single Battle
Same as Most Points in a Single Game, but models don't need to be painted, and one or more discontinuous tables. Anything goes so long as it is interrelated and simultaneous. No turn requirements.
The Big Game, Los Angeles Battle Bunker, January 22, 2011, 864,057
Most Points in a Single Battle - Multiple Locations
Same as Most Points in a Single Battle, but allows for multi-location play.
The Big Game, January 22, 2011, 22 locations in 5 countries 2,310,835 points

My thoughts exactly.
15 different locations = not a single game = not the 'World's Biggest Apocalypse Game'.
It'd just be a lot of really big games happening at the same time.

We have a LOT of space. We play on 26 tables, each 4' x 8'. We allow 40,000 points per table. With reserves, it actualy works pretty well. Last year we played width wise, and that was a parking lot. This year we are playing length wise, with staggered tables, so you can reach into the center. We have played this way all year and it works very well.
There are bridges connecting each groups of tables. And each bridge is an objective as well. So it is basically one huge table.
The game is outrageous amounts of fun.

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.

Sounds fun. I'd have loved to participate, but that's just too short of notice for scheduling, and we've got a FOW tournament already set for that day.

Whats the record for 1Pv1P? I have a 12k game coming up and while I'm pretty sure its not in that range, it would be interesting to know.
