Are we getting rather a LOT of 'secret rumours' at the moment?
Looking at it, we currently have a Chaos Legions thread of 26 pages, a 10 page Tau thread, a 4 page BT thread, and we've just started an Eldar one. Almost all of the rumours have come from Ghost21 on Warseer, who is generally know to have only one spot-on rumour.
Kroothawk in the Eldar thread wrote:Currently we have (almost) only one source, ghost21. He has been spot on (Dreadfleet) and far off (Sororitas Codex in August with new models) before, so decide yourself what you believe of his current flood of rumours. i remain sceptical for the time being.
Like Kroothawk, I remain very sceptical about everything in these threads. When was the last time GW were actually working on FOUR codexes at once - to the level of weekly rumour updates about all four? I'm sure I remember incidents of GW attempting to find out who the 'leak' was by feeding false rumours - are we seeing some of that? Or is a lot of this stuff simply made up?

This isn't really a news or rumor though, I think this would be better off in Dakka Discussions.
After He didn't get anything right with the Necrons though, I don't put much stock in his rumors.

I'm amazed people trust Ghost21. He has got literally ONE thing correct (Dreadfleet) and the rest has been RHUBARB.

He tried that with the Necrons, and it didn't work. He even told Yakface, his rumors were wrong.

It's almost certain that GW are working on the rumoured products since they are the last armies needing to be updated. Also, there are 82 people in the Design Studio. Surely they can manage to look at more than one book simultaneously.
The process of updating is quite complex and time-consuming when it involves the design of new models, writing extensive amounts of fluff, and writing rules that will fit with 5th and the rumoured 6th edition (40K, of course). All that has to be balanced against sales projections and production resources to decide a release date. I'm not surprised that rumours would be circulating now and prove to be fairly inaccurate.
To be fair, the Codex SoB rumour came half true. There wasn't an actual book but the rules were published in WD.

Although, again, that could be put down to "Take a handful of theories, throw at wall, see what sticks." Witchhunters was one of the oldest codexes at that point, basic logic would say it would be getting an update fairly soon.

Maybe because it isn't crystal clear which army needs a new codex.. (though it will always be the oldest one!) But now, with a new edition coming well nobody can put their finger on it. Necrons was very clear... DE before that as well as were grey knights. But now with the new edition (rumoured as well though very much aknownledged) incoming well who knows?

The problem is that you are discussing "logic" and " GW" in the same sentence-you should know better than that

So in 40 pages of rumor thread does anyone know the order in which they're being released? Because regardless of the rumor content, the order of release is probably paramount. Has GW kept this cinched up from us?

I found the part where ADB called out ghost21 very funny!
It's entirely possible that there are 3 or more codices floating around at once and that someone in the editorial process has seen them in different stages of their development.
But, like you, I'm taking all of it as just wishlisting. Sure, some nuggets of truth might be in there. I guess we'll just wait and see.

The ONLY thing that I'm 100% certain of is: No one knows.
At least, the people that REALLY know aren't posting.

1.) We know that plastic kits take about 2 years in development. So at least all Codices and army books of the next 2 years have all major decisions made for these new units. So we have at least 2-3 Codices and 2-3 army books plus supplements in the works at any time. Harry decided to only post on the upcoming stuff, but he knows much more. Some years ago, he informed us of the new Space Hulk 2.5 years before release. And a lot of miniature ranges seem to sit on the shelf at GW, waiting for a release.
2.) To be honest: Currently I don't believe ghost21's flood of rumours. He proposed a Hrud Codex and a new insectoid race for Fantasy for Christ's sake. He has been more wrong than right, so his crrent credibility is quite low. We will have to see. But that's why I am reluctant to post all the tidbits he is posting every second day on half a dozen Codices. I can't rule out ATM, that it is deliberately false or fed by GW. Esp. as most are close to old wishlists.
3.) And to be fair: he ruled out a WD Codex Sororitas ("I will run naked through Nottingham ...") and gave details about the Sororitas and priest sprue. Still a chance that those are ready but not yet released, but he was clearly wrong.
BTW: I edit most of his posts for spelling and grammar to improve readability. I found it funny when Aaron said, all people present in the meetings could spell

And yet if it wasnt for rumour threads, what would we talk about?
Who really cares if ghost21 is 100%, 50% or 10% right? At least he is throwing us a frickin bone every now and again...even if that bone is rotten!

Did I ever tell you that Jervis is my cousin?
In 2012, there will be new plastic kits, new large flyers, a couple new codexes and a lot more finecast conversions.
You heard it here first.

Man, I've always found the rumour culture around GW to be hilariously crazy. Other companies generally keep us informed, publishing release schedules ahead of time, and even POSTING PREVIEWS!
GW seem to think they're in weapons development, or something, the way they carry on. Absurd, but hilarious!

It's much worse for a company to promise something and not deliver than to promise nothing and deliver more.

How can you be skeptical of something that has been ruining businesses since business has existed?

1.) I didn't start the Black Templar and Chaos thread. Nor the thread on the Codex Hrud.
2.) I was asked by the mods to restart the tau thread. I started the thread on the Fantasy contingent book, when Harry started a thread on that topic quoting ghost21.
3.) ATM it can't be ruled out that his rumours are more or less true, so reporting them with a word of caution is okay for a rumour forum.
4.) Mostly I just report rumours, so that people can decide for themselves what they believe. I don't guarantee that all rumours I report come true.

You know what? I like it, false or not. Better to have bs to talk about than awkward silence if you ask me.
I think GW has actually been stepping up their game a bit lately, I don't know if I could point specifically to anything, but in general, I feel like in some ways, they are doing better.

I can't see that. GW's preview policy dropped to abyssal depths in June and stayed there until now. No official word on what January releases are. Not even a word on Tervigons. Created the niche for ghost.

I dunno, I guess I feel there have been more releases of late model wise, but perhaps it's down to to more releases of stuff that interests me...
For rumors, well, I suppose they can't be attributed straight to GW either, but there have certainly been more lately wouldn't you say?
