Hi Everybody!

I've just come back to the hobby, and have found myself lurking on Dakka quite a bit lately. I played Warhammer 40k from the very beginning of 3rd edition (1998), where I started with the Marines vs Dark Eldar box set, and played it until the beginning of 4th edition (2004?). I eventually gave it up when my group of regular players all moved on in their lives. I've always enjoyed the fluff and the video games, but hadn't had much to do with the original hobby.

I recently went to the new GW store in Atlanta, for nostalgia's sake, and saw that there was a new Necron codex. As they were one of my favorites, I took this as a sign, bought it, and got inspired to dig my old armies out of the back of the closet. I was kind of surprised at the extent of my collection. I have space marines which were repainted numerous times to change chapters and need a good stripping, a varied Ork army with a squad of Kroot Mercenaries (which I assume is no longer kosher), several units of daemons and marines for a Chaos Marine army that never got built, and of course my beloved Necrons.

I've currently got a couple of Codexes and the 5th edition rulebook. I'm in the process of modernizing and painting my old Necrons (both 2nd edition and 3rd edition models). I'm not sure when I'll actually start playing again, but I'm looking forward to my journey into the strange new world of 5th Edition 40k.

Welcome back!

I completely understand where you're coming from. I played Necrons for quite a few years before life and college got the better of me. The release of the new Necron codex has gotten me (and my wallet) back into the fold.

Don't get too sentimental about 5th edition, 6th edition is right around the corner.

I have Necrons spanning all the way back to their original metals. Sadly, when I was younger, I cared more about playing and winning than finishing my armies. Now I'm into the painting/modeling side more. I'm going to create a P&M blog for the 'crons in the next few days that will have shots of everything and document my quest to finish them all.

I saw that in the rumor area. Honestly there are several things I'm not enthralled with in 5th, so I'm looking forward to seeing what 6th comes up with.

Again, thanks for the welcome everyone!
