What if GW put out a line of Apparel? Would you guys buy it? I would love to have some T-shirts or maybe a hoodie. They wouldn't even need to be super witty, I would like just a black T with the Tau symbol on the front. What do you guys think?

They've done badges, wallets, hats and t-shirts over the years.

I really don't get why they don't do this, but I'd certainly be interested if they did.

I'd buy an Aquila T shirt or whatever. Honestly I think it would be profitable, since nerds like us will buy anything if it's got the right graphic on it. I'm still super stoked about the IG backpack that came with Apocalypse gamer's edition, and I love carrying my army around in it.

Knowing GW, they would overcharge for "the greatest, highest quality 100% cotton T ever made by humans" when it has the "Hane's" tag still on it. It would certainly cost $35 for a single T-shirt, and god knows how much for a hoodie.

Funny seeing this thread. When I went to my t-shirt drawer this morning the first thing I grabbed was my 2003 Grand Tournament shirt. Still wearing it after all these years.

As if neckbeards didn't have enough issues without wearing a symbol of stench and decay!

Gw would probably substitute 100% cotton for 'finecotton' or 'fine-ester', watch the returns mount up.

More than half of the T-shirts sold would already be stained and moth-eaten when remove from the packaging. GW would then start to sell a darning kit and fabric...

I'd like to see more accessories for GW in, like the belt buckles, dog tags, pendants etc. Both clothing and accessories would be a nice touch for players and another source of income for GW. Heck, even my LARP does shirts, mugs and so forth, so why can't a viable company do it?

I think they should come up with witty 40k slogan and put them on Tshirts.

Well Games Workshop definitely do sell apparel, it's just that it's sporadic, not very well advertised and often a very limited release.

I have an aquilla hoodie, aquilla long sleeved top, aquilla t-shirt, Bugman's hoodie, Black Templars t shirt, Gaunt's Ghost t sirt, Phantine airborne t shirt, Ultramarines t shirt, aquilla wallet, countless Chaos t shirts, Vampire Counts t shirt, Space Hulk t shirt...... the list goes on.

I also have belt buckles, metal pin badges, dog tags, bags etc.

All of these things are often made in very small runs, so you have to buy them quickly as they sell out fast. They are sometimes advertised in White Dwarf or on the Black Library website but only for very short periods of time.

They do often turn up at Games days or in Warhammer World though or you can trawl e-bay if you don't mind second hand stuff.

I agree that GW really should license these out to a t-shirt manufacturor but the simple reason they don't is that they just simply don't sell well enough.

Back in the 80's, early 90's you could buy t shirts in GW stores, every new release had a t shirt to go with it, but because you have to produce every t shirt in a minimum of 3 sizes, of which probably only one sells (normally large...) you end up with lots of dead stock that used to end up being used as dusters in the shop.

GW also used to produce belt buckels, jewellery etc under license via Raven Armoury, and then had it's own product line called Warp Artefacts.

However these also didn't sell that well and so were withdrawn.

I think the problem is GW is never brave enough to go the whole hog and mass produce something which in the long run would have a higher margin and therefore be more profitable if it sells.

I am sure that if sold in store, and advertised properly in White Dwarf (ie not a tiny advert in the front few pages) they would sell tons of generic 40K products. An Aquilla with the 40K tagline would be perfect.

But then there are lots of things GW could do (artbooks, merchandise, painting guides etc) that they never really do properly.

Oh, and I did have aquilla boxer shorts..... They were part of the staff uniform when I worked for them during their red period. I even had aquilla ray bans too, they came in a metal aquilla tin and had tiny aquillas on the arms, but I never wore them. You have to draw the line somewhere!!

My prized GW shirt, is a Orlock Necromunda T-shirt, barely ever wear it as I wouldn't want it to fade.

Sadly I didn't think of that when I wore out three Imperial Armour tank t-shirts over the past eight or so years. Have two Tanith first and Only shirts as well.

As to GW doing it, I really think they should bring them back, (Black Library sold them last time I think?) or let someone like Jinx do it, I can't see how it wouldn't at least make someone some money. Hell with Jinx, GW would get a cut, and not even worry about production, other than give a thumbs up or down on designs.

Looking at the sheer ammount of Warcraft shirts Jinx now does, I think it could work.
