Hello folks,

Thanks for reading... especially those who've followed me here from my post in the List Forum. I was excited to get the Bat Rep started so I'm posting the lists first. My adversary is inexperienced, but won't be easy prey. He's an experienced gamer and has beaten me handily on two previous occasions. He doesn't own 40k and won't get into it regardless of how much I beg. Bastard. Nevertheless his intellect is formidable and his pizza is delicious. He was given a choice of races (Orks, Marines, or Tau) and I generate the lists. 1000 points. He chose Marines. My choice was Tau (vetted from my post in the Lists Forum). The Marine list is not vetted mainly because of my limited models. I know that most of you would think the list is off balance because of the inclusion of a Redeemer, but I want to give him a mechanized CC list and I only own two tanks (Razorback and Redeemer) and two AoBR sets.

Here are the two lists.

Space Marines - 1000
HQ - Termie Librarian: Quickening; Smite
Elite - Assault Termies x4; Sgt x1: All TH/SS + Redeemer w/ MM
Elite - Dred w/ MM,SB
Elite - Dred w/ MM,SB
Troop - TacSq x4; Sgt x1 + Rhino

Tau - 999

Elite - Deathrain x2 suits w/ TLMP, Flamer; Leader w/ TLMP, Flamer, HWDC, BK, + Gun Drone x2
Elite - Deathrain x1 suit w/ TLMP, Flamer
Elite - Helios x3 suits w/ FB, PR, TA; Leader w/ BK, FB, PR, TA, HWDC, HWMT, HWTL + Gun Drone x2

Err, nothing is on the "Turn 1" buttons. Are you going to post more later?

Hmm. I would say that your list will crush his, except you don't have any railguns, meaning that the redeemer is going to be a tough nut to crack. The only hope you have is if you can somehow sneak those fusion blasters up to it, however if he puts a template over them, they will get smoked. Lets see how it turns out.

To make it a more balanced fight I'd probably drop a dread from the list & bulk out the tac squads to full strength w/ ML/flamers. I agree that the redeemer will probably eat your Tau alive though & move w/ impunity. I'd swap out something for the broadsides personally because if you don't, you will not be able to stop it. Keep in mind also that those hammernators will only need 1 turn of assault to eat whatever they hit barring horrible dice rolls & even you hit & run won't help you there. When/where are y'all gonna play? I'd like to watch if it's gonna be at the shop.

tau don't have hit and run, and he wants the hammernators to kill whatever it assaults in one turn so he can rapid fire them the next. I think the Broadsides would definitely help against that reedemer though.

That's right, I forgot that was only the one specific mission . But, I still stand by saying that the hammernators are a real threat & speaking as a SMurf player, I wouldn't fear being rapid fired upon w/ a 2+ armor save but that's just me, especially if their murder move roll is good, then they can potentially move out of line of fire of some/all of the enemy guns or if not they have a great chance of weathering most of the fire that comes their way unscathed, which is where the broadsides would come in very useful actually, that & suits w/ plasma rifles. If you set up your lines to get your firewarriors charged leaving the hammernators in the sights of those that's different, but then that's where the broadsides come in handy for popping that redeemer before it rolls roughshod over the entire army.
