Members of Dakka, I have gathered you here on this day to aid me in my battle against indecision. I currently play DE and will soon start a new army. I need your help to decide between my four favourites. I will do either Space Wolves, Tau, Dark Angels, or Inquisition. I don't know the different playstyles of SW or Tau well enough to tell how I would run my list, but for DA I would do Ravenwing and for Inquisition I would do Coteaz henchmen spam.

All the other codecies are already solid. Except for the one problem in the Daemons dex where your whole army could die before the enemy gets to shoot

Do you want an army the exact opposite of how Dark Eldar operate? I'm rather perplexed that the Angry Squig does not have Orks on his list, especially that they're the polar opposite of Dark Eldar. But out of the choices given, I'd do Chaos. They're slow enough.

But don't do Word Bearers, Lorgar wears a dress.

Read Aurelian.

Cas, read First Heretic, the guy wears a dress. He is also in my top 5 favorite primarchs. And I forgot to put in Orks, it was late when I wrote this, just forgot to post until this morning

Read it, and Aurelian comes after it. Lorgar kicks ass in that, the dress has definatly been put away after that..

If you're looking for something completely opposite of the Dark Eldar in terms of mechanics and tactics, then Orks (or to a lesser extent Tyranids) are the best bet. Massive hordes of infantry, ramshackle trukks and wagon. Perhaps the most funniest fluff in the 40K Universe.

I do like the silliness that comes with Orks. And they make everything so simple. There are units to shoot the choppy ones and units to chop the shooty ones

I don't think Chaos Orks would be possible from a psychic/intellect view point since, well, they're Orks. They already do Khorne's bidding albiet unknowingly, for a good fight is a good fight and Space Marines are dead 'ard. Nurgle? Meh, I don't think grandpapa Nurgle would waste his time on Fungus, but there are occasions where Orks become infected by one of Nurgle's Plagues, I think its in the Eye of Terror Book, where you can make your boys Toughness 5.

So Chaos wouldn't affect the Orks directly since they do quite well on their own.

Its okay Castiel, we know. We know your beloved Spikey Primarch keeps a very long and flowing dress tucked away in a closet somewhere, maybe in a fold of the Warp so Angron or Abbadon don't see it and make fun of him for being different.

When I say Chaos Orks, I really mean an excuse to join my friends black crusade by puting spiky bits and an occasional tentacle arm on regular Orks

Could just have it so that chaos are manipulating the Orks, not like it hasn't happened before.

Where the sun crosses the field of blood.

I'd say Chaos Orks are kind of viable.
Not as Orks going "So dem Gork an Mork are not as good as dis Roinous Powahs I herd bout, let's fight for them instead!" But more like them being manipulated / favored.
I mean, I can really see a demon going "I've got the choppiest of choppas ever, and you can have it if you go and bash those humans over there.." And the Orks agreeing, eventually leading to some kind of agreement where the Orks get benefits for doing the demon's bidding ("Good Orkie. Now you can has extra arm so you can haz MOAR CHOPPA! And you can haz BIG CLAW INSTEAD OF RIGHT ARM, and you'll get a fifth eye, and you here...").
Sounds like a Tzeentch guy.
They could also gain favour from Khorne for being killy if they come into contact with chaos. I'm pretty sure there's a passage in the rulebook which mentions a Waagh! going into the warp and then being "cursed" by Khorne to fight there forever (much to the Orks' joy.)

Blood Axes are sneaky. Bad Moons are rich and pompous

Thanks. And for BA, whats a good list build that isn't "derp, assault marines" is the golden shower or all DC any good.

Deathskulls have no problem working with humans. Blood Axes do respect humans more than other orks, but it is rare that they ally.

I thought death skulls were the really primitive/tribal ones?

That's Snakebites. Deathskulls are the ones that do the looting and paint everything blue.

I'm not particularly sure. However, the assault squads allow you to forge a good Mech force.

They discount transports. Essentialy lots of fast Razorbacks and Baal Predators and Dreadnoughts...

I don't really like the freeway style play of some BA lists, all bottlenecked and traffic is a real bitch in the 41st millenium

Well, I know that DC armies are realativley few in number, and are difficult to master. They won't go that far, and aren't that reliable.
Same goes for golden shower I suppose.

I like the golden shower because of the eliteist super-marine feel to it, but it would die in droves to the LR Executioner

Weel, Sanguinary Guard are incredibly vulnerable to Plasma Cannons, amongst other things.
They are easy to wound, and they get no armour save.

Death Company are monsterous in close combat, but you cannot take objectives and they are subject to rage.
They are expensive to upgrade and hard to manage.

They both have very few numbers, and so are easily overwhelmed by hordes.
Death Company can get the advantage over hordes with a good charge, and seeing as hordes often don't have tons of high strength or power weapons, FNP will still be in affect mmost of the time.

What sort of armies do you play against? That may help.

I'm obviously bias for Orks.... Uh. Aside from that a Renegade Guard army sounds neat, I almost know nothing about Catachans though. Blood Angels is kinda of a boring army from what I've seen.

I think you should do that Plague Marine army the most. I see too many Chaos players at my store or internet using Khorne-esc lists with Beserkers in METAL BAWKSEZ. I think a nurgle inspired army is fantastic.
