I started playing Warhammer 40K when the 3rd Edition box set came out in '98. I played until 4th came out and the last books I bought were the 4th rule book and Space Marine codex. I never played a game of 4th Edition. That was '04. This past November I stumbled into the new GW store in Atlanta and found that Necrons had a new codex. The Necrons were my favorite army, so I bought the book for nostalgia's sake. This has naturally led me back into the hobby and I've dug out all my old armies.

The Necrons were my favorite army and they were in the best shape out of my armies when I found them (other armies: space marines, chaos, and orks). The Necrons got into 40k right around the same time I did, though I started off with Space Marines, like almost everyone does. I eventually obtained my original metals when the complete white dwarf army list came out for them (1 HQ, 1 Elite, 1 Troops, and 2 Fast attack. Who needs Heavy Support, right?)

I plan to use this blog as motivation to finish and share my bizarre love for the space robots with Dakka. I'm not sure when I'll actually play again, but by god, it will be with some shiny robots when I do. I'll list my current inventory of models and then share a few choice photos to wrap up the initial post.

Current Inventory of Space Robots:
Finecast Overlord: 1
Metal Lord with warscythe: 1 (aka the pusher robot)
Metal Lord with staff of light: 1
Destroyer Lord w/ warscythe: 1 (aka the shover robot)
Crypteks: 5 plastic conversions
Flayed ones: 10 metal
Lychguard: 5 plastic w/ sword & shield
Warriors: 20 original metal, 37 plastic
Immortals: 5 original metal, 10 3E metal, 10 5e plastic
Destroyers: 5 original metal, 3 assembled plastic, 3 unassembled plastic
Heavy Destroyers: 3 assembled, 1 unassembled
Tomb/Canoptek Spiders: 3 assembled, 1 unassembled
Wraiths: 3 assembled
Scarab bases: 10
Monolith: 1

I'll start with a pic of my original immortals

Here's a close up of one of the Guass Gorillas

My original warrior phalanx

A close up of the different warrior poses

That's right: the original destroyers had flying la-z-boys with cannons attached. I think they'll be acceptable tomb blade stand ins now.

These are my Crypteks made out of spare parts: warrior torsos, legs, and left arms; death mark heads; and praetorian staves and right arms.

This is the Lord I used most of the time in 3rd edition. I've redone his base and touched him up a little. I used to have an original lord too, but he's disappeared.

A new Immortal with Tesla Carbine. I'm going for a dark, ancient look in my paint scheme. Thoughts on the color scheme would be great. I'm still rediscovering my ability to paint.

I haven't really come up with a game plan as to which models I'll be painting or assembling. As you can tell, the army is all over the place right now as far as completion is concerned. I'll post updates as I make progress. Comments are welcome.

Love me some old necrons. Gonna steal the Cryptek idea, BTW.

It's being run by people with short term vision and enough greed to extinguish a sun.

Perhaps they're the C'tan.

Ok, so I got out my wraiths. They were just base coated with silver and their bases were plain green. I gave them a bath in Badab Black wash and gave them desert bases. They aren't exactly Golden Demon winners, but they'll do. I have cleaned up the leader's base.

Just a quick update: I've been distracted by the holidays, work, and so on, but I'm finishing up my 11 Scarab bases. I'm confused about how I wound up with 11 bases. After that, I'm going to tackle my Tomb Spyders. Pictures will follow each unit being completed.
