I was wondering how many layers of paint (without removing any.) can you put on a Miniature? Before they start to go wrong!

Depends on the thickness of your paint really, and where on the miniature its going,

For example putting a tonne of layers on a flat surface might make it stand out a little, Doing so on fine detail will just remove all your detail.

Yea, it completely depends on the thickness of the paint. When I used to use a brush to base coat my models (thank god for the airbrush!), I used to use 3-4 coats of snot green in order to get an even, smooth finish.

I'll agree with the "depends on the thickness" camp and also note that it depends on where you're painting.

I thin my paints down rather much ~25% water/glazemedium/flowimprover. It took me well over 20 or so coats to get the blending correct on my Eldar GravTanks.

Exactly six hundred and sixty six, provided you sacrifice a puppy to satan beforehand.

(it depends entirely on the thickness and the kind of paint you're using)

As has been said, it depends. Some very advanced blending techniques you see used among golden demon contestants may involve over 100 layers.

More average painters will often apply 15+ layers for certain colors like white and red.

If you don't thin your paints 1 layer can be too much.
