Ok Dakadites I need some help because I have been looking around and I dont know how to find what I am looking for. So I am making a modular gaming table and it is winter themed. I have several sections that have water on them and what I would REALLY like to do is some sections with ice. So what I would like to know is what would be the best way to make chunks of ice floating in the water(water will be resin), how to make ice forming around the edges in some areas, and how to make a section that is frozen over. I have looked around I cant really find any tutorials and I am somewhat new to making terrain but I am fairly skillful so I should be able to pull off things that people suggest. So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I could use all the help I can get and pictures or links to tutorials would be amazing.

If you want ice sheets, I would use mounting card (ice white Of course) which you should be able to cut cracks into, also it will have some nice depth to it as well.

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

You could always just use some sheets of sheet styrene and cut them into small chunks and carefully place them on top of the resin as it is curing?

Failing that you could always PVA some frosted plastic (such as the plastic that is used in paper wallets to store paper in folders) - gives a slightly translucent ice, rather than a solid white.

Or perhaps get some window frosting spray?

you could drybrush the ice, then apply weteffects to give it a smooth shine with a frosted layer beneath.

Something translucent would be best to simulate ice, otherwise it will unavoidably look like white rock. Matte varnish over clear plastic may give the look you need.

If you can't find any suitable clear plastic lumps anywhere, consider casting them in clear resin.
