I play BT with a couple of Rocket-plas Crusader units, Marshal Command squad, five man power weapon/flamer CCW Crusader unit and five termies with an AC. My main opponents are either completely infantry or at most with heavy tanks (Hammerhead, LRC's, and Falcons), and while my rockets and tank hunter AC can deal with light transports and walkers, I have trouble destroying the Heavys. I'm not able or willing to modify my current army, as it works well when heavy's aren't in the picture, but rather add a new unit. The two main ideas I had were a Ven Dread with Lascannon, ML and Tank hunters or a Predator Annihilator to knock out heavy's. I need power to bore through AV 13 and 14, and a volume of fire to deal with holofields. However, I also need to consider the infantry opponents ( GK and IG) too, and thus which of the two would excel at this work (considering I'd make adjustments to use the Pred as a destructor or the dread as to have an AC and rockets). Any help would be appreciated

I would recommend the lascannon predator as you get tree shot one of which you can reroll and (arguably) more survivable

Well, statistically speakihng an Assault Cannon is better for taking out AV 14 than a Lascannon, so I would suggest an Assault Cannon Vendfread with a DCCW and HF. The assault canon deals with the heavies, Ie, the Land Raiders and such, and can put out enough shots to be competent against horde/infantry, and even light vehciles. the heavy flamer can hurt up to AV 11, can smoke out enemies in cover, can hit multiple models and even multiple units, and reinfoces your anti infantry-ness.

Predators are kinda, all or nothing. 3 Lascannons for AT, or Autocannon/HB for anti infantry, or a mix that is niether cheap or efficient, a fact I have learned the hard way.


Not only that, but the dread can fight in an assault, and fire on the move.

It BT's, it has to be the dread. You could even buy a Contemptor dread from FW. It is Christmas after all!
