The short version is lots of Assault Marines with Meltaguns and Power Fists, some Priests, and a Librarian HQ. Don't take any vehicles.

BUT WE LOVES THE VEHICLES!
Hybrid lists ftw. Lots of predators, lots of jumpy marines.

A good proportion of the lists here are BA DoA. The final versions of which would give you some ideas. If not I am sure there are some excellent articles available if you go looking on this website, if someone wants to link theirs
I try to lead you through some thinking
1)You are going to have bunch of assault squads. This is just as death company are uncontrollable with jump packs.
Then 2 melta and powerfist seems a good combo to deal with antitank and most other hard threats. The squad knows what to do and can do it well.
Maybe 2 flamer and powerweapon would be good to chuck in to slaughter free troops, only one squad mind this is 5th edition after all.
2)You can increase their value by adding priests.
Jump pack so they can keep up. No weapons? This is as you want to keep them away from base to base contact to keep them alive.
3)You'll need a HQ. Dante is expensive but can be good. Mephiston is amazing but needs to be treated with care to work with jump packs. So maybe go for a librarian with a jump pack, shield and rage are good powers making a great cheap HQ.
4)Now ask yourself what does your list lack, or at least what else do I want to field to be comfortable with the list.
Some people need a ranged attack to play their style. So dev. squads with 4 ML, a priest to keep them alive, a squad of sniper scouts to make them scoring would be good.
Or to be fruity some typhoons to give a ranged attack.
Others like to add bikes of different kinds. This works well to with this fast infantry list. Essentially this makes your army hit and run but with extra fire power.
Pure Jump pack army as you love Decent of Angels. I would go for honour guard with 4 plasmas, this is to shoot the enemy units I would very much like to shoot rather than get too close. Then assault squads can not kill everything in cc, so I like some vanguard to fight off the true cc units of the enemy, they are also flexible in their role.

Thanks for the suggestions, im gonna post a 1750 list of what i think works soon.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
Finished list, whaddya think?
HQ: Astorath Astorath is there for the Jump Pack Death Company i have in the troop choice, the 3-below Red Thirst can also help out in making the units more effective, same goes for the Liturgies of Blood to help the Death Company re-roll their hits
Elites 1: D.C Dreadnought (B. Talons, H. Flamer) Intended to be loaded onto the Storm raven with the Death Company+ Astorath, for good anti-infantry against hordes like Orks/Tyranids thanks to the B. Talons ability and the H. Flamer, same with the F. Charge and Fleet
Elites 2:3 S. Priests (2 J. Pack) Two are to be with my two 10-man Assault squads to make them durable and help them get in with little casualties, the other one is to be with my Scouts who are going to be Objective sitters
Troops 1:5 man Tac squad (w/ Razorback) Objective sitters again, the Razorback is there to help them get around quickly
Troops 2:10 man Assault squad (M. Gun) A Primary attacking force.
Troops 3: 7 man Scout Squad (C. Cloaks, S. Rifles) Objective sitters, camo cloaks help their cover save and the Priest gives them FNP for extra survivability, the 3 extra scouts are points fillers
Troops 4:10 man Assault squad Same reason as the other 10 man A. Squad
Troops 5: 5 man D. Company (J. Packs, 1 T. Hammer) Astorath is with these guys to help dice up enemy units, the T. Hammer is there for emergency anti-tank and breaking open armoured enemies
H. Support 1: Dreadnought (M. Melta, M. Launcher w/ D. pod) A "Suicide" Anti-tank unit, to help pop tanks early in the game, the Multi-melta and M. Launcher are ofcourse for anti-tank
H. Support 2: S. Raven (T.L L. Cannons, T.L M. Melta) The primary transport unit for the army, getting the D. Company and the F. Dreadnought in for some early damage thanks to the Turbo boost giving it a healthy 4+ C. Save, the Bloodstrike missles are also a good emergency anti-tank
I Have 1744 , whaddya guys think?
EDIT: Miscalculated some points, No more P. Fist for D. Company, no more M. Guns for assault squad and losing 1 scout, i replaced the F. Dreadnought to a D.C Dreadnought, the removals were to make room for the Sanguinary Priests ACTUAL cost, kinda slipped up there

Astrorath isn't needed at all in this list. The only reason to take him is if you want multiple Death Company squads, which is not recommended. His buff to the Red Thirst is close to useless, since Priests give you Furious Charge and Fearless isn't that useful.
The Tactical Squad is a poor fit; if you want a squad of objective campers, take 5 Scouts and give them Sniper Rifles, Cloaks and a Missile Launcher. 100 points, and pretty much impossible to kill via shooting.
You really need the Meltaguns and Power Fists in the Assault Squads.
If you want to run a Stormraven, you should probably plan to run two. You could do something like this:
HQ: Mephiston 250
EL: 5 TH/SS Terminators 225
EL: Furioso Dreadnought with Blood Talons 125
TR: 10 Assault Marines, 2 Meltaguns, Power Fist 235
TR: 10 Assault Marines, 2 Meltaguns, Power Fist 235
TR: 5 Death Company Marines, Power Fist 125
TR: Death Company Dreadnought with Blood Talons 125
HS: Stormraven with Extra Armor 215
HS: Stormraven with Extra Armor 215
Total: 1750
You have 2 Stormravens filled with nasty stuff, and some scoring units. Mephiston + DC Dread in one SR, DC and Furioso in the other. Split the DC from the Dread to make them harder to kite. At higher points levels, add Priests.

its the kind of list I'll field one day. I bought a bunch of predators because I like tanks, but I keep painting more and more assault marines (I'm up to 40 now!).
One day I'll have enough to do a list like this... then my opponents will cower in fear.

It's a highly optimized list, really cuts to the chase and doesn't screw around with no frills units. I think this would be a really fun and competitive list to play with. (fun and competitive don't usually go together, its usually one or the other, IMHO)

It was a random list, which was *about 2,000 points. Lose a melta unit and you should be sorted. With the 15 points left add melta bombs onto the power weap sgts, for just in case moments

Boom! Leman Russ Commander
|
my jump pack list, from my memory is something like this:
Dante
libbie, Jp, lance, shield
honor guard, 3 melta, 1 ss
3x sang priest jp,
3x 10man assault marines, 2 mg, 1 pf each
then
2x 7man vanguard marines, various meltabombs, PF, and some thunderhammers, one or two PW.
This list worked very well for me, Dante drops where-ever with the honor guard, killing a tank usually with the 4 melta, and one inferno pistol, libbie's lance gets another. Everything comes down to clean up or run for objectives. My vanguard attempt to get into combat using their special ability to assault when they come down which is ten times better with DoA. They NEED to be in combat in order to not get shot to bitz.
I usually play against parking lot guard, and various marine lists, so this list is very fast and quick.
Hope that helps

+1 to that
It's always a nice surprise when you drop next to that expensive squad/vehicle and take it out before they even have a turn to react. Also it helps draw attention away from your other units that are coming on

Take this list, modify it to fit in 2 VV squads (drop in, take out whatever the Devs pull from transports) and you have yourself a winner.

Ill try Mercers list in a game if i can and once i get the models (Yay for christmas), i finished up another 1750 list i streamlined a bit more.
HQ: Librarian (Epistolary, JP, SoS, Unleash R) Idea for this HQ is a support job, intended to be attached to the Death Company, i omitted Wings to make room for these support abilities and help the DC when they Deep Strike
Elites 1: 2 S. Priests (Jump packs) Both attached to Assault squads to help keep them alive and a bit more punchy on charge
Elites 2: F. Librarian Dreadnought (SoS, Wings) Another support unit for the Assault squad with the SoS and the Wings to keep up, good for intimidation factor as well, will probably break off once in charge range
Squad 1 and 2: 10 Man Assault Squad (PF, Flamer, M.Gun) Main attacking force, Powerfists and M. Guns for anti-tank and the Flamer for softening up enemies before charging in
Squad 3: 5 man DC (JP, TH, PF, Power weapon) Utilized for deep striking and taking out enemy forces, may be placed in Storm raven depending on scenario all this might bring up the eggs in one basket problem...
Squad 4 and 5: 5 man Scouts (S. Rifles, C.Cloaks, M. Launchers) Objective sitters,i split a 10 man squad of them up so they can sit on more objectives
H. Support 1: Stormraven (Extra Armour, TL MM, TL LC) A Mobile fire platform and for transporting units in a emergency, good anti-tank firepower as well
H. Support 2: Predator (TL LC, Extra Armour) [b][u]Anti-tank, thanks to that Fast rule they can zip around and blast things easily as Anti-Tank)
Comes to 1750, how is it now?
Also i need a few general BA tactics, as im relatively new to the army.

You don't need epistolary. You cast shield in the ENEMIES shooting phase and unleash rage in the assault phase. Just remember you can only use one psychic power per enemy turn, so no shield and unleash rage on the opponent's turn .
I would really drop the Stormrave and the Predator. They are two single units of armour and easily stopped, especially the Stormraven because of cover issues etc and it is also a big target.

Advice taken, how would i go about anti-tank then? They are both there for that. Automatically Appended Next Post: Alright, im swapping out the Stormraven and predator for two Devastator squads both with 2 lascannons, a plasma cannon and a missle launcher, if i omit a squad however id have enough points leftover for Lemartes to help give that DC squad a bit more "oomph" and lets the librarian attach himself to a Assault squad for that SoS and U. Rage goodness, or even stay with the DC with that SoS and another power, either S. Sword or another power, can you suggest any? this also leaves me a fair amount of points to play with afterwards too, What do you guys think?

I did some list changing about and came up with this:
HQ: Librarian (JP, SoS U. Rage and Storm Bolter)
Elites 1: 2 Priests (J. Packs)
Elites 2: F. Librarian (SoS and Wings)
Troops 1,2:10 man Assault squad (PF, M. Gun, Flamer in each)
Troops 3 and 4: 5 man Scout squads (4 snipers, 1 ML each)
H. Support 1 and 2: 5 man devastator squad (2 L. Cannon, 1 P. Cannon, 1 M. Launcher each)
I Dropped the death company due to being a points sink, i could invest into another assault squad with the same loadout and priest, but im still undecided on what else i could use these points on....
