Hurr! Ogryn Bone 'Ead!

I remember when I got my free 2nd ed book. That's such an incredable customer service move. Nobody can claim these guys change editons just to sell rule books. Time to dust off my fallschirmpanzers!

I wonder how you get a 3rd Ed rulebook if you no longer shop at a FLGS?

Good question. My FLGS no longer sells or supports Battlefront/ FoW products.

You should be able to get one through Battlefront, I'm pretty sure they did this last time. Doesn't matter if you shop at the FLGS, just stop by for the free book.

This is good news. A good move by BF.

So just to clarify, they are handing out replacement copies but presumably you have to show your 2nd edition copy? I assume you don't have to hand back your rulebook?

No, you don't have to hand it back. Like they did after first edition, I think they're just going to put a stamp or a sticker in your rulebook, to prevent people from going around to different FLGSs getting a bunch of free mini-rulebooks.

Personally, I'm excited about this, and glad to see Battlefront continuing with what they started with second edition. It looks like 3rd edition will bring some good improvements to what is already a generally solid ruleset.

I have the 2nd edition rulebook and 600 points of Fallschirmjaegers for LW. I have yet to play a game, but I am very interested in the system. Maybe the 3rd edition upgrade will finally get me to play.

Tempting, innit.

The very good thing being that there's not the same monopoly on models - once you have the rules, there are lots of companies competing to supply you with 15mm WW2 chaps/tanks etc.

It's a very good pr move and will promote consumer loyalty and positive press/word of mouth.

Ironically, about 75% of the Battlefront staff, including the very top, are old school GW guys, including a few VP's.)

Really? Thats actually very intresting (no sarcasm implied)
There is a company called Warlord games who is also run by a group of ex GW employees

Honestly, these days I think it may be easier to count how many companies dont have any ex-gw folks

-Yep, that's John Stollard over at Warlord. He was with GW from very early on. Great guy.

-Mantic is run by Ronnie and Steve, ex-GW folks, as is Joe Neet, who's their sales rep here in the US.

-Lonnie Mullins is over at Wargames Factory.

-If you watched the Battlefront utube video, that's John Paul, one of the heads of BF, an ex-GW VP. Here in the states the US warehouse has about 8 guys that used to work down in Baltimore, including John Mattews, (another ex-VP), and Jeff Smith, who was his second in command.

-Kyle at Battlefoam worked at GW.

-And of course a huge number of guys in Nottingham area at Foundry and other smallish companies. The Perry's have been have in/half out of GW for years, producing all kinds of cool miniatures for GW, foundry, and their own line.

-Ernie Baker, who ran the US for years, now has a small game distribution company called Architects of War, and is producing his own scenery and other items.

They are all over the gaming industry.)

You can also use 20mm or 28mm models, with suitable adjustments to range scale.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

PLah, 15mm.... 20mm is God's own scale

I think it's a great move by BF to do again, you can't buy publicity like that. I just hope it brings in a new crop of historical TTWG's from "The HHHobby" side of the industry.
