I got into TES Franchise when Oblivion came out for xbox 360, played it a ton, but ultimately never finished the main storyline and was frustrated by the leveling system. I picked up Skyrim and think it is pretty amazing.
My question: can I go back and enjoy Morrowind? Or will the bad graphics and clunky combat ruin the experience for me?

It all depends on if you're a true gamer, or a competitive gamer. I've played the entire franchise...Arena, Daggerfall, battlespire, redguard, morrowind, oblivion, and skyrim. Its harder to go to Morrowind after playing Oblivion and Skyrim, but only because you have to think ALOT more, and read alot more.
They're all beautiful games, but I'm afraid if you're not patient, then you wont be able to stand it.
Morrowind is beautiful, even now. I've NEVER been dissatisfied with any of the games. Its all about what you're really looking for as a gamer. Immersion, or cheap thrills.

Second question: am I better off getting it for PC for the mods? Any recommended mods?

Morrowind for PC is VASTLY better.
Obviously get on TesNexus...I'd get the graphics overhaul. Other than that, I'd play the game through first, then mod it. There are always going to be things you'll want to try, but I have a feeling you'll enjoy the beautifully crafted storyline if you dont mod at first.
I always enjoyed the Pegas Horse Ranch, the Galleon mod, and the Dragon Rider mods. I think they were made by a guy named Madmax.
I used to spend alot of time in that world, and at one time was talking to the Bethesda Lore Devs, and was leader of building the Black Marsh for Oblivion. Its been a long time, so I can't remember as many mods as I used too haha But if you ever have any hang ups, or questions, or need advice, feel free to PM me
EDIT: The Morrowind 1M edition (I think thats what it is called) is suppossed to have TONS of improvement mods, to boost performance, graphics and glitches. And I think its avaliable online, but I'm not positive.

Its not about that at all. Its about the overall aesthetics of the game. If you want to play something just to sit down and play, Morrowind is not your game. Its about analyzing the entirety of the game.

Yeah, and thats your honest opinion. I'm okay with that haha
I was just warning him on the pitfalls of the game. Transitioning from almost fully recorded dialogue into an almost entirely text based system is a hard transition. I still have a hard time for the first couple days of getting back into playing it agian haha xD
For the times, its combat was pretty good, but if you compare it to Oblivion, and heaven forbid, Skyrim, its nothing haha
HOWEVER, I miss spears, throwing stars, and crossbows haha

I'm much the same, I enjoyed it but not the combat too much looking back on it. However it gets better as you level your skills; it only seems to be annoying at the beginning.
Another thing to remember is they don't level with you, so some areas you need to stay out of for a bit. Also don't annoy the guards until maybe level 10-15ish.

I HATED that part. You had to have certain skills to be in the different guilds and stuff, and it made levelling up skills awfulllll haha
And I remember when I started playing I would go to Ebonheart and piss off the guards and then swim under the boats and then up again and they'd get stuck and drown and I'd take their stuff hahaha xD
God I had some great times in that game...brilliant game haha

Cliff racer numbers need to be dealt with but eliminating therm is a poor solution.
Most players get ganked by hordes of them because they fast fly long distances pulling every racer they find.
I think there is a mod that cuts racer numbers and also makes them territorial, after a short distance they return to their nesting area. To balance it made some bigger tougher racers and dumped them in the mountains.

Well if you really want to go back to morrowind, there might be an alternative. (Instead of playing the old game, you might be able to go there in Skyrim. There have been some glitches found in Skyrim that have let people go further south and into an unfinished map that is morrowind. The rumors are, that Skyrim might get some DLC that will access this area in full detail.

This I HIGHLY doubt. Its more likely that they will add something involving Hammerfell, but they rarely return to the old games.

This^, However, is probable. Oblivion had one, its just gonna be a matter of time till Skyrim gets one.

Get Morrowind, its still a very good game. Just go into it keeping the fact that its how old now, in mind. And yes get it for PC. They make watches that could handle the specs for the game, so why not just get it, and the mods that make it better, there are some pretty incredible mods for it out there. The story was really good, and the game, even compared to today, is friggin massive

Very Interesting indeed. We shall see in time. I would be overjoyed if they recreated the old provinces, but I'd be more excited for new ones.
