Hi just a quick but strange question for you all, I was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to do a Blood Angel list with no vehicles? just troops and maybe a dreadnought or two?

I have a bunch of marines and I am just looking at different options that are a bit different and that thought appealed to me!

In this weeks 11th company podcast they go through ur standard BA MEQ spam. BA can do it best as priest with the FnP bubble give you a massive boost in survivablity. Its actually quite a good way to deal with GK, they have a lot of anti-infantry fire, but not that much.

It'd basically be like:

Libby with shield

3x Priests

4x 10 Tac marines
2x 10 Assault marines

3x 10 man Dev squad

Elite and FA to taste.

I know, the first one... why would you have a 34 model army where 33 of your models had jump packs and your single most expensive model doesn't?

The DoA armies out there usually operate without vehicle support. Please have a look at the DoA army lists here at this board.

To be fair he does adequately explain himself in like the first 2 sentences before the list. Mephy has the wings power, so Jump Pack.

Mephistion does not synergize well with a DoA list as he cannot deep strike. He's better used in a mech list hiding him behind the wall of steel coffins until he's close enough.

Technically, you can use your spare marine mini's to make a non-vehicle list from any Space Marine faction.

Having said that, follow the advice of the others here and search for DoA Blood Angels lists.

In fact, a DoA list starts with a solid core of Assault Marines, say 3x 10 Assault Marines w/ melta(x2), power fist. Such an army is best led by a Librarian w/ jp, shield, blood lance leading 5 HG w/ jp, 4 special weapons (2 meltas + 2 flamers, or 4 plasma guns). Vanguard Vets are a good choice as they can eventually charge upon arrival thanks to heroic intervention.

That is why it took a second as it looks like it may be a DoA list with mephiston which is very reasonable.
If you DoA you can hide mephiston, he is one model you can block LoS. Else deploying at the start also works. Also mephiston is very useful for DoA lists which tend to lack monster killer sort of guys.

DC with jump packs is expensive and unruly. Though it would be fun.
San. guard have a use in big lists to give cc edge but you need the points to do the mundane melting of tanks and killing the non cc infantry. Though they are pretty.
infernus pistols are a waste and not effective enough. Though they are in the box set.

Ok 6/10 as lists go, not bad but must try harder

The dread list has a basis in something that i have seen work. Changes: Librarian with shield, CML for the termies, long range shooty dreads, librarian dread with wings, priest in termy armour, priest for the back, then go for some sniper scouts instead of some tactical squads.
I think this is mainly meant to be AoBR and the battleforce so I can slightly understand why it exists and why it would struggle.
3/10 not pretty, not BA enough, not competitive, just far too easily countered by virtually any army. :(

The other possibility for a no-vehicle BA list is shooty using Devastators and Tactical Terminators with Cyclones to put out of a ton of missile launcher shots, combined with Priests to make all of those units super durable from enemy shooting. Combine with some assault marines and maybe a few Scouts for scoring.

I want to run a list like this at some point to use more of my Space Hulk terminators.

Spreading FnP via SP's would make such a list quite resilient.
