Ok, so I've been playing II and Armored Company for years, and I'm SERIOUSLY considering trading in most of my heavy armor for Vendettas and Valks. I have 2 right now, and was thinking about getting something like 6. I was thinking 6- 10 man vet squads, w/ demolitions, 3 meltas, and a power weapon. maybe some plasma vets as well.

The tactics seem interesting, and diverse. Not to mention I think the army would be difficult to deal with. Any tips? tricks? Pointers? Funny jokes?

My biggest problem with the idea is the Squadroning. well, that and how friggin' big they are!
if you get the Max # of 9, that's a huge, and i would imagine unwieldy, footprint.

if i did give it a go, i'd probably only go 2 per squadron. with 3 Squadrons. 2 Vendetta and 1 Valkyrie

personally, I don't like vendettas, I prefer my vehicles to have nice blast weapons, I usually field one squadron of 3 valks with multiple rocket pods.

I'm more of a vendetta fan myself. Valks just don't tickle my pickle like most people. I plan to have a few russes still around, but my emphasis is more on the drop style of play.

I used a vendetta (proxxied valk) once, in a killteam game...
destroyed on turn 2, didn't kill a single unit...
completely turned me off

It helps to properly use vendettas. You cannot just plop in down and expect it to bake cookies or anything especially in a small game like kill team. In mech army environments, vendettas give some decent firepower to halt transports and the like

I expected to just camp it in the back of board and camp... it didn't work out too well, I'll stick to outflanking valks and using them for strafing runs on the enemy front line

But not having the H Flamer spam from the Chimera will leave you needing help with Hoards, imho. I suggested the Valks for the MRPs.
Having Russes will make a difference.

The problem i think Squidmanlolz had was it's not only priority 1, it's probably the only vehicle on the board.
Well, that he had. I agree that in a KT game would not be the best environment for one. besides, isn't it a
little over the AV limit? Being AV 12 on the sides disqualifies it from some rule sets.

That and how friggin expensive they are. A single chimera chassis and some creativity goes a LONG way in the world of tracked guard vehicles. There really isn't much of a substitute to buying one of those super expensive valkyrie kits, though.

As for list and tactics, it's not quite as diverse as you think. Your list will basically be 3 3x squads of fliers filled with vets as necessary. Either everything goes on the table and you go gung ho turn one, or you go all-off and use an astropath to outflank/depstrike everything.

Yeah, the main problem is really their size. Honestly, I've always felt 3 valks/vends at most in a list. Otherwise things get too crowded. Anyway, some fun ways to play that I've discovered are to use special weapons squads instead of veterans in valks. Give them either 3x melta or 3x demolition charges. They are basically a suicide unit, but then again aren't those veterans a suicide unit in the end anyway? Laying down 3 large blasts is just so much more fun than one in my opinion. And even at BS3 you can still do some damage despite the scatter (Even if it is on your own men )

Last game with my DKoK was against Airborn IG.

That was hella funny !

Vendetta and Valkiries hovered left and right to dodge heavy shell from earthshaker gun in direct fire mode, firing with all their weapon to destroy the numerous artillery pieces.

Paratroopers suffered a lot : due to some misdeployment by my mate, they were shelled to death by Thudd Guns.

We finished with 10 KP for DKoK and 9 for Airborne.
I found them a very nice army to play against, but we were not in a competitive format.

Vendettas are my prefered choice, and work nice with plasma or melta vets w/ Demo. NYE me and my friends did an 18k game, I outflanked 2 vendettas with Plasma squad in each, one got out. The following hapened: Plasma vets: killed hive tyrant Vendetta1: 3 lascannons kissed a tau hammer head goodbye Vendetta two: danged an eldar wraithlord to the warp. Other large threats were mopped up by 1bassalisk(pinned a tau markerlight team) and manticore( goodbye to some eldar and csm units) HOWEVER: enemy reserves came in, on vendtetta was rear av bolterd to death, the other was shot by eldar outflanking personel, and crew was assulted by a new defiler and already present eldar squad.

This combo would have worked great if they didnt have reserves and forcus most of their firepower at the vendettas. Not to mention I deployed in THEIR spawn area. Bad planning.
