Hey there all.

So I was looking at saurus warriors and the models look pretty sweet.

The thing is I dont want to play a "good guy" army since that seems too bland for me.

With that being said I was curious if having chaos lizardmen would work with the fluff or are they strictly good with no corruption what so ever?

Thanks.

Ehh, I haven't finished the Lizardmen codex, but they've had a significant battle vs. Chaos as Chaos is/was pretty much the antithesis to the Old Ones (just read that last night while catching up on my WHFB fluff!). So, I'd say Chaos Lizardmen are a pretty big reach, in terms of fluff. But hey, GW made Dwarfs and HE fight along side each other in WAR...

Well I mean I dont want something too far out there.

I am not even in aposition to even get my hands on a lizarmen book in at least a week so I was just curious since I was thinking of a cool paint scheme.

How ever if it dosnt work with the fluff then I am not really interested.

I've seen concept art on Tzeentch Lizardmen in WD iirc. I don't think any race is immune to corruption as we've seen elves and dwarves go down the path of chaos, there is no reason that lizardmen couldn't.

Hmm interesting.

I was thinking of a black and red color scheme.

But who knows maybe blue will work it will have to wait tho but thanks for the input.

Maybe switch a slaan for a daemon prince (I mean use the dp as slaan),.

Lizardmen aren't good they're Order, back when it was good vs evil instead of order vs destruction they where neutral and for good reason – they're emotionless they aproach everything with logic, or the version of it imprinted on them by the old one's engineering. They kill without mercy, sacrifice themselves and others and are willing to destroy civilisations (sorry dwarfs) if it furthers the great plan.

I agree with Hoverboy, if need be they'd ally with Chaos if it was towards genocide or some other mission of the Great plan.

Since the forces of Chaos destroyed the Old Ones, and all of the Lizardmen worship them and have the idea of the Old Ones as gods inprinted on them since birth, I doubt they would turn to their mortal enemies for an alliance. Chaos stopped the Great Plan in the first place.

That is true the current top goal of the lizardmen IS the eradication of chaos. Helping a chaos force to destroy another is not beyound them but they will no doubt turn on them soon after.

The Lizardmen are definitely heroic, after a fashion. They definitely aren't uncomplicated "good guys." On the one hand, they want to fight back chaos and have no problem with the other races living happy, healthy, and prosperous lives... as long as they stay in the territories allotted to them by the Old Ones. Think of it this way: the Lizardmen were the first - and possibly are the last - best hope the world has against Chaos, but they also have a serious case of cultural OCD and they aren't afraid to use it... to kill you.

If you want to play an army that will rape, kill, pillage, and burn its way across the world, the Lizardmen aren't for you. If you like playing a faction that's on the side of the angels, but in a seriously complicated way, the Lizardmen could definitely work for you.

IIRC, there was a little passage about a spawning pool being contaminated by the Skaven and the resuliting spawning being deformed and dying.

I feel that you could work a bit of fluff out to say that Chaos has seeped into Lustria and contaminated a pool to produce 'Chaos Lizards'. Maybe a Slaan travled to said spawning pool and was touched by the water, thus tainting him with Chaos....just a thought.

There's some separation between the Slann and the other units. In the Lizard book the Slann don't seem to be capable of succumbing to Chaos at all- it kills them. The Saurus on the other hand are just designed to be the troops of the Old Ones and without the Slann's guidance (or possibly Skink priest) they revert to being savage animals.. errr lizards.

This question pops up time to time and it seems the best suggestion is that you could say some Tzeenth sorcerer takes the form of a Slann and goes to 'retrieve' the savage Saurus on the island.

But this is literally the worst army to justify being chaotic fluffwise.

Lizardmen are not corruptible in the sense that they are selfless or just not that intelligent. Their existence is for the Slanns alone.

HOWEVER, there is nothing wrong with corrupting a slann! which the rest of lizardmen just follows the order for xD

There was a suggestion that a deamon could posses the body of a dead slaan, since as pointed out any attempt at corrupting a living slaan ends in either his or the deamon's destruction.

The older army book and lustria book, seemed to have left it open. I always thought it quite interesting that various spawnings were the chosen of particular named gods...

The current book has fluff describing a slaan who is leading a force outside home range. This opens possibility of encountering strange new forces, etc

I think you could have an isolated force that have been seduced / corrupted by destruction. Similar to Beastmen- beasts of field and forest don't have the ability to have ambitions, etc, but chaos made it so. I could see the same occurring in a southlands style scenario... Lizzies lose their slaan, revert to more animal/primitive state. Then chaos can fill the leadership gap, causing whatever changes you like. Keep them as lizardmen as you like, too, say its the inherent order resisting change. This isn't much different from the rise of sotek, where skinks get all warlike and have red crests...
