A few test shots of this paint scheme
Standard Chimera.
The step back Command Chimera (playing around with OSL, but I hate the windows/firing ports). Tracks not yet installed.

Life isn't fair. But wouldn't it be worse if Life were fair, and all of the really terrible things that happen to us were because we deserved them?

Neatly done.
It would look more striking if you used white or perhaps a cream colour for the pale colour, .

I did a test model with white instead of Slate Grey. The white was screaming loud and just looked out of place (IMHO).
The colors I settled on are a basecoat of Tamiya Dark Ghost Grey. the camo is comprised of a generic flat black, Slate Gray, Pewter Gray, and Blue Jean (Apple Barrel colors) and Boltgun hilights (the crenellated edging along the lower edge).
The treads were flat black with boltgun drybrush.

It took me a minute to recognize the parts you used on the command track. I never thought of doing it like that.
If you don't like the firing ports, I know I don't, sand the rings flush to the surface and then make a template from index card for that section of the track. All you have to do is transfer the template to plastic sheet. I use the "For Sale" signs from Wal-Mart, they are thin, and have the same area of plastic that you get from Evergreen at less that 1/4 the price. Make sure you make a template for both sides as they are slightly different. I normally used about three layers laminated with super glue and once glued down with liquid plastic cement sanded down to conform to the body of the Chimera.
Not sure of the paint job as it really does not break up the vehicles outline, none the less these look good and the command track very well done. Can't wait to see them finished.

I have been planning to use the same camo for my LVT5 model, inspired by the Philipine Marines units. (Which are themselves ripped off from the Berlin scheme.)
I thought flat white and black would look rather stark on a small model so I was considering a dark and light grey and a dark and light brown. It's very interesting to see your model painted.

I like it, very different and also very difficult to achieve. Would love to see a smaller scale pattern on a tank, so more of a digital pixelation rather than blocks of colour.

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest! |

That works remarkably well with the Chimera armour plates
Nice work.

Thanks all. One of the key elements of the original British camo scheme was that every vehicle type was painted exactly the same. This made it almost impossible for the Soviets/East Germans to get an accurate count of vehicle types or which specific vehicle was where.
I won't go that far.
In actual practice the Brits found that in the urban Berlin environment (where the Brigade was based and expected to fight) the scheme was effective to as close as 70 yards/meters. Naturally it would.t work in the woods or deserts...just as the green/brown wooded camo dosn't work very well in a city.

I'm assuming you're planning a vehicle-heavy army?
I'd love to see pics of multiple Chimera's like this in some sort of formation!

Chimeras (including the step-back Command Chimera), Hydras, Hell Hounds, and a Colossus are all in the works (although I'm still deciding how I want to build the big gun).
Once the core army (1750-2000 points) is complete and playable I'll start to mess around with some Russ' and Valks. Perhaps even some Roughriders and Ogryns to switch things up on occasion.
