This list is for a local tournament, but while I've tried to build it capable of dealing with multiple armies, I'm reluctant to go down the 'cheese everything out for the best list possible'. I'm aiming for strength and versatility, but not to the point where the army is dull to play with or against. For the most part, my opponents will be running lists made from their collections, rather than tuned tourney level armies.

So, the list.

Reclusiarch - 130
9 Death Company (Power Weapon, Power Fist) - 220
Land Raider - 250

Death Company Dread (Talons) in a Drop Pod - 160

10 Assault Marines - 190

9 Sternguard with Combi Weapons (probably Plasma or Melta - currently undecided), Sanguinary Priest, all in a Drop Pod - 355

Furioso Dread (Fists), Extra Armour in a Drop Pod - 175

10 Devastators, 4 Lascannons - 270.

Total - 1750.

The general theory is that The Sternguard will drop in first turn every match. Priest splits off and hides behind the pod while the rest of the unit opens up a tank or MC with their combi-weapons. If I need anti-infantry punch I'll bring in the DC dread the same turn, while if I need a bit more anti-vehicle/anti-MC I'll drop the Furioso in instead.

The Reclusiarch/DC all jump in the Land Raider and barrel towards the frontline, aiming for a turn2 assault into something. I'm toying with dropping the power weapon for extra armour on the LR.

Dev's break down into double lascannon combat squads and spend the game picking off tanks/MC's as required, and the 10man ASM squad is mainly in for lategame objective grabs.

It's pretty much a case of opening up a tank in the first turn with the sternguard, and planting a dread in someone's face, focring them to decide whether they want to get nailed by a dread or a land raider carrying DC in turn2.

The main concern is that the body count is low across the board, and while drop pods can provide a level of cover, I'm worried that there just aren't enough vehicle threats to force the target saturation that benefits the dreads. Generally, the list seems to be lacking a bit of focus and direction other than 'I'm going to put a bunch of big scary targets into your face and you can pick which one you die by'.
