I've decided to log the creation of this new army, hopefully to be completed early in the new year!

The army list: 1750 Imperial Guard Armoured Co.

First finished Guardsmen:

Very nearly finished Guardsmen:

Work in progress Guardsmen:

Quick bit of history!:
Imperial Guard were my first army ever, which I started 11 years ago.
I ended up with about 2500 points of Catachans, unfortunately I can't really salvage any of them because they're so horrible.
However there is one Chimera which im going to attempt to save, I dont have a before pic but I was in an almost identical state to this Hellhound:

Salvaged Chimera:

Old and new Chimeras:

WIP Manticores

Now i'm not 100% on the tanks colour scheme but here is one of my samples:

Do you guys think once over with the wash or twice?

Those are some nice guardsmen

The bases look kinda boring though, at least from here. It looks like most of the base is untouched besides a patch of grass or some wire

I actually used a really fine sand instead of the normal base mix I use.
It is probably too fine though!
Might quickly redo the bases with a larger mix

Atm only 10 guardsmen have arrived in the mail.
In future I wont be using the fine sand either way

The bases are perfect for what the death Korp are.

Just to stick with the muted color of the guardsmen i'd say two wash, but try it out on a larger area first id say like the side of a tank, rather than dive right in

Ripped the bases off. Wasn't happy!

Plus I'm really not feeling the vehicle scheme i was doing.

After looking around the web I saw some white washed / weathered tanks and feel in love with them. I'm switching to that.

So naturally that means snow bases!

Unfortunately 2000 points of krieg has left my bank account super dry and I've never worked with snow before.

Without the ability to buy some snow (Ive been recommended gale force 9 snow), I had to resort to a baking soda and PVA method.

All my stuffs arrived in the mail, despite me getting burned by local taxes when it arrived.
So to any other kiwis dont order over $400nz worth of forgeworld at once! God damn that was a harsh lesson.

Anyway here's my bench at the moment.
Im going to add 2 more vendettas soon to get the list to 2k for a upcoming tournament

Another slightly annoying this is that krieg lasguns come with both hands molded onto the weapon.
That means for my 12 meltaguns I have to create hands from greenstuff.
I managed to distribute a third of the melta guns to kriegsmen at ease, and dont have to worry about it with them.
Others I could slice the fingers off the lasgun and then glue them to the meltagun as a place to start.
And with two I have to mold the entire things from nothing which is going to be fun! (sarcasm, im terrible with greenstuff)

And here they are as of now!

[edit] people good at maths will count only 11 meltas not 12, just realized I missed out another guy at ease with the meltagun resting in front of him

Anyway this is more of a photography acheivement, spent ages messing with my crappy cameras settings, a background etc and came up with this:

Looks great. Also, as far as I can tell, they gax get plus five percent, but if it comes out under sixty dollers they don't charge it. As far as I know. Check the customs website, it has all the details.

Noted on the forgeworld taxing, I was thinking about doing a big spend with the strong kiwi dollar but might just do a medium spend now.

Your DKOK look pretty amazing, do you game in Auckland much?

I have shed loads of IG bits hanging around if you need the odd left hand for your melta guys.

I would be happy to donate some bits to such a great project.

What does the Exalted option do? No bloody idea but it sounds good.

I basically made the mistake of getting 1600 points in one order. If I'd split it into 2 different orders under 400nz I would of been fine. Stupid law.

Thanks! Yeah I play a little bit, only East Auckland Elites or Sylvia park really.

That's very generous! However reading this comment made me take a 2nd pass at my bitz box.

Power armored hands are too big/wrong as expected but I found some excellent sm scout biker left hands.
They're literally a perfect match! Score!

Ok Ive been batch painting 10 tanks 3 vendettas and ~40 kreigsmen at once so progress is a bit slow.

Even little things like basing the guardsmen took forever! But anyway here's how things are atm

Demoralizing wall of death ..korps

Vendetta and Autocannon team bases WIP

And then there's the work I do in my brother in-laws garage, its hard to find time to get there during daylight hours where the compressor wont keep everyone up but things are still plodding alone slowly.

Everything before they ate an entire can of citadel black spray
(Yeah some are white already because I kept changing my mind on colors!)

They weren't 100% completely primed from the can 'cuz it ran out. So I pretty much learned how to use my airbrush filling in the rest with black.

Step 1: Codex Grey

Got that far then a new pot ran out, had to go get another to finished up and do the Vendettas!

This is the stage all the tanks/vendettas are at right now. Highlights and shades done on the grey.

Two tanks with the camo colours laid down and highlighted, but not shaded

And finally the one tank thats ahead of the batch curve. Finalizing everything/learning as I go so the rest will match

Nice plog! What's not to like about krieg (aside from the price!)? Those models are sweet and your painting has done them justice. Great basing, too.

Im looking for some different way to paint the silvers on my tanks.

Something that's not some variation of boltgun metal -> babad black/devlun mud -> boltgun metal.

Anyone got any ideas or links?

Maybe another brand of silver paint?

My first complete tank for my Krieg army. This was also the first time I've ever used oil paints and weathering powders. I really like both and can't wait to get more practice with them.

Things are still slowly going ahead!
I spent ages unhappy with my baking soda snow, I bought some GW snow but that's literally just white static grass (ripped off!)
Anyway I got the snow sorted now by using a crushed glass (nasty) product from secretweapon, mixed with water effects.

So here's some stuff im working on (pics a bit crap sorry, but they're mostly WIP anyway!)

Finished Autocannon 1 of 4

Finished Vendetta flying stem 1 of 3

WIP Sgt and Autocannon Teams

WIP Command

WIP Meltas

And finally my WIP Officer of the fleet.

I needed to add this guy to my command squad for an upcoming tourney but wasn't sure how I felt about the current officer model.
I know they're not part of the krieg regiment but my entire army has no skin showing so he'd be a real out one out.
I also know Kriegsmen wear their full kit in even non-toxic warzones.
But I figured if I was a junoir navy officer assigned to a Krieg field position I would have the sense to get my hands on some decent kit.
So yeah I think it works pretty well. At least in theory!
Oh and he's going to be painted like the N7 armour commander shepard wears in mass effect
