Stunning work as usual, the Praetor is looking awesome as is the BaC fella. Please forgive me if I end up stealing some of your ideas from time to time, they just look so good!

@Kepora: Maybe! I don't know if I've got the right tools to do that kind of fine engraving though, hm. I was more thinking of adding a bit more detailing to the area that joins the blade to the haft. We'll see what I can come up with!
@Commander Cain: Hee, thank you! And no worries, man, steal away! It's always nice to know I'm providing some inspiration.

Aright, update time!
Think I've finished this guy's weapon, finally! Rivets make everything better.
I think he's just about ready to paint, unless I decide to make him a little taller somehow. Would be a pain to do though, so I'm still pondering how exactly I'd go about it, if I do at all.
And the reason I'm pondering it in the first place is because I gave the terminator a bit of a height boost! Here's the two side by side:
Cut him in half just above the belt, added a 1.5mm thick piece of plasticard between the two halves, and I'm currently in the process of re-sculpting his midsection. Did the front hoses and was waiting for those to dry before I did anything else.
Of course, making him taller means that his cloak now looks a little short, especially from the back...
I'm tossing up between leaving it as is, extending it with millistuff, or making the bottom edge look all torn and ragged and damaged to help explain why it's shorter. Please let me know your opinions on this!
Finally, I magnetised the base of the slaughterpriest and started getting some paint on him:
As always, let me know what you think!

Blar, apologies for the lack of update last week, I came down with a cold and didn't get much hobby done. :( But anyway!
Just in case people missed them, I finally got proper photos up for my Imperial Space Marine and the Praetor Tribune in Tartaros armour! Whew.
So onto the WiPs! Made some progress on painting the Slaughterpriest:
Still a lot of work to do! Especially on the skin, metal, and leather areas. I'm not entirely sure about the helmet yet - I feel like I need to make it darker overall to get the Khorne symbol to stand out better. Thoughts?
Something else I've been working on as well - magnetising my Imperial Knight!
The battle cannon and multi-melta magnetised to switch between the two.
I can now switch between all the weapon loadouts! I also magnetised the shield so I can switch between the two shield options as well. Still have no idea exactly how I'm gonna paint this guy up yet though, and I still need to position the legs and build the base - I have plans for that, oh yes. But it requires me cutting up one of the legs at the knee to bend it, so we'll see how that goes!
As always, let me know what you think!

@Stormwall: Thank you! I'm looking forward to getting this Knight done!
@evildrcheese: Magnets for DAYS! As for colour scheme, I honestly have no idea yet! I'd really like to do something in crimson and white and gold, to match my Sons, but I'm still waffling on the details of that one. Especially since there's already so many knights with some kind of red/white scheme. I'm also kinda tempted by the Legio Astorum scheme, especially since that particular Titan legion fought alongside the Thousand Sons during the Kamenka Troika campaign. Decisions, decisions...

By the way! I think you should look at the Thallax Gold from FW, its a really cool golden colour that I'm sure would go well with your Thousand Sons

@teban: Aahh cheers! I had a look at the Forgeworld paints - did you mean Valdor Gold? Thallax looks very bright coppery to me, at least online. Either way, I might have to try it sometime if I ever get around to making a proper Forgeworld order, heh. Thank you for the recommendation!

Hey there!
Valdor Gold is a very subtle golden .. gold. At least mine have been that way.
As for Thallax, yes, it is a bit on the coppery side but that reminds me so much of the Egyptian stuff... and it looks 'right' to me .
I have attached some pictures showing Thallax gold highlighted with Valdor gold.
I Hope they look good!

@teban: No worries! Purple wash is legitimately amazing, I use it on so many things, I love it.
@evildrcheese: Ahehehe funny you should ask that! I just had my weekly painting session at my local GW, getting more work done on the slaughterpriest. To answer your question, yes, there's a bit of the fiery vein action happening on the torso!
Here's the progress as of today:
Still a lot to do, but progress has been made! I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with his hackblade though. I'm considering doing it as a dark blueish-black obsidian blade, but idk for sure yet. Thoughts?

@Kepora: Hm, you mean like this?
That could work - the green would provide a nice contrast to the red, and if I gave it some of those yellow overtones, it'd also complement the more yellow areas of the lava. It might look a little... Christmas-y though, and given the utter lack of green in any other areas of the model, it might stand out a little too much.
Some of the other ideas I was considering for it included a sort of knapped-blue/black obsidian stone look, or going for a brassy-bronze look to match his armour trim. Or perhaps some kind of lava/fire effect, make it look like it's glowing red-hot.
Decisions, decisions!

That Chaos chappie is looking awesome Skits! Loving the glowing rune on his head.
Re. the sword, I give the weapons of my own TSons a green wash over silver that looks pretty decent. It works in the same way that purple does to enhance gold. Ill post a pic below so you get an idea of it. I also think an obsidian blade would be great. I'm not sure if you'll have any handy but highlight of grey followed by a coating of black ink (not wash, though that may look good as well) would make it look suitable shiny!

If you want something with a strong contrast.. perhaps blue as EDC mentioned. Colour wheel!
However, I'm really unsure because I'm not used to seeing Khorne with blue tones on it. Could be a nice change - no tzeenchian pun intended!

@evilddrcheese: Thanks! And yeah, I'm considering blue or green, just not sure which way to go yet, or what style to use. Decisions, decisions!
@teban: I just use Kneadatite Blue/Yellow, I'm still on my first tube of the stuff. XD As far as I know it's pretty much exactly the same as GW's greenstuff, just a lot cheaper 'cause GW buys this stuff, then just repackage/relabels it and jacks the price up.
I also use Milliput, both the standard yellow/grey for larger, less detailed areas, and the superfine white for more detailed stuff. I mix greenstuff and milliput in about a 50/50 ratio - I much prefer how greenstuff works, but it's more flexible and kinda rubbery when it dries, whereas Milliput dries rock-solid and is much easier to sand/carve. By mixing them I get the best of both worlds!
As for mastering it, aheh, I wouldn't say I've mastered it yet! I'm still learning new stuff almost every time I work on another model. That aside, I couldn't really give you an accurate time of how long I've been using it either - I started around late 2011, but took a two-year break from the hobby around 2012-2014, and since then I've been switching between modifying and painting models. It'd probably be easier to judge by the number of models I've worked on, rather than actual time. XD Which, at a rough estimate, is currently around... fifteen completed models, I think, and about that again or more still in-progress.
I think the most important thing about working with greenstuff/milliput is simply patience. Just work on a small section at a time, let it dry, sand/carve to refine the shape if needed, then add the next bit to that, rinse and repeat. You don't even need particularly fancy tools (although they probably help!) - almost all my sculpting work so far has been done with my fingernails, an old crochet needle, and a pin for fine detail.
And yeah, I can't recall seeing many Khorne-type models with much blue or green in them! I suppose if whatever I try first doesn't work out, I can always strip the sword down and try again. XD

So I finished the Slaughterpriest finally! Which means back to our regularly scheduled Thousand Sons content!
Anyway, I've done a bit more work on the Imperial knight - I cut up the left leg for some re-posing and started building the base:
Everything's still just blu-tack'd in place atm. I think I'm going to need to do some more adjustments to the left ankle to straighten up the leg a bit so the knight's not quite so splay-footed. Thoughts?
I've also started a bit on the Burning of Prospero box, to nobody's surprise ever. The height of Ahriman's nasal crest was seriously bugging me, so I shortened it. XD Still needs a little bit of cleaning up, but I'm happier with it this way.
Gotta admit, I'm kind of tempted to leave Bjo-- I mean uh Geigor in pieces like this... maybe scattered over Ahriman's base...
It would've been really cool if GW had put Othere Wyrdmake as the other character in the BoP box instead of Geigor. Ah, well.

Only a small update this week - I've started painting Ahriman, yay!
I'm still working on the red (it does NOT photograph well, ugh), need to darken some areas and up the contrast a bit.
And man, with all the Thousand Sons-related releases coming out soon, I think I might need to start trying to squeeze in more than one painting session a week...

Bit more progress on Ahriman. Hayfever attacks suck butt and make it very hard for me to focus on much for long, blargh.
Still trying to decide what colours to use for his cloak. Tabard and dangly bits will be cool white. Pondering just doing the whole cloak the same cool blue-white, but also considering doing the outside of the cloak a different colour. Not a fan of the purple that sometimes gets used though. Maybe just a dark blue?
Thoughts?

Ahriman is coming along nicely! I'd be tempted to stick with mostly white on the cloaks. Pretty sure I tried dark blue with red armour and it looked a little off. That being said if anyone could pull it off it would be you!

@Commander Cain: Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I'm sticking with the white formost of it, but I decided to experiment with something for the back...
So! A little more progress on Ahriman! Mostly working on the cloth today, though I didn't get as much done as I wanted, but oh well.
Tried something different for the back of his cloak! An attempt at a starry night sky nebulae.
So what do you all think of the cloak? Yea or nay?
