Thank you everyone for the comments! I'm glad the modifications work so well, and I'm looking forward to getting these idiots painted as well!

Speaking of which, here's the squad with their primer on and a bit of white sprayed from above - I've recently gotten an airbrush so I'm playing around with it a little bit. XD I also added a few rivets here and there on their weapons before priming.

I've started painting one of them, but he had a little accident and the nasal crest on his helmet got broken. :( I've patched it back together for now, but it's not neat (which is driving me insane) - you can see it in the following photos, and I'll probably end up re-making that whole helmet at some point later.

I think I've prettty much finished the white robes on this guy for now - I'd like to improve it more, but the paint's getting a bit thick.

The reds still need a bit more work, and I haven't really touched any of the other colours yet. A lot left to do!

I'm fairly pleased with the muzzle of the plasma pistol at least. Might give it a few more washes to bring up the purple more. What do you all think?

And something else I've been working on a bit lately - a magnetised Shadowsword/variants! I've been playing around with airbrushing, and I figured a nice large tank would be perfect to practice on.

In pieces! I haven't primered or started painting all the parts yet, obviously. XD

So far I've just done a purplish undercoat and the first coat of darker red. The photos kind of wash out the colour gradient though, oh well.

Anyway, that's what I've been up to lately! Let me know what you think!

Love the heat damage to the plasma pistol and I think keep it as it is. Nice to see some paint on these pretty awesome models.

Have fun playing with the airbrush!

Thank you! The airbrush has been an adventure so far - it's kind of like learning how to use my graphics tablet all over again. XD Except with a lot more clean-up and maintenance!

Looking good so far. Really liking the white robes.

Ugh, sorry about the long radio silence! For those interested, I've done a quick tutorial on sculpting fancy trim on Space Marine pauldrons if you want to have a look!

So I had a bit of a setback when this poor guy accidentally got stepped on...

I'm going to have to strip his torso down entirely so I can rebuild his book and put his other belt gear back on, and fix his helmet and his sword. Luckily the other painted parts weren't damaged, but still, the setback's kinda killed my motivation to work on these guys for the moment. One day, one day...

In the meantime though, I've been working on a few other things instead. I got a trio of Scimitar jet bikes from Forgeworld, and I'm modifying one of them to be the sergeant or captain of the squad. I'm making it so he'll be standing up on his bike, his glaive out and ready to take off some poor sucker's head. Still early stages though! I've also magnetised the jetbike weapons so I can switch between them.

I'm also painting up the Games Day 2012 Exclusive Blood Angels captain for a local painting comp thing. Here's an earlier WiP shot:

And some more current progress:

I'm still working on the NMM gold (first time trying it! EXCITING), and I've still got a fair ways to go!

As always, please let me know what you think!

Some more progress on my BA Captain! I need to get this guy finished by the end of April, after that it'll be back to your regularly scheduled Thousand Sons content!

I could really use any advice people have on painting non-metallic metal! Mostly for the gold, but also for the silver on the sword sheath. I'm already planning to bring up the highlights more and darken the shadows with some purple glazing, but any other tips about placement of highlights/shadows would be very appreciated. Thanks!

For anyone who missed it, I've finished the Blood Angels Captain!

I'm currently playing around with my new airbrush, figuring out how to use the damn thing. XD

Started painting two of the three jetbikes I have (I'm still working on posing the jetbike sergeant, UGH):

And I've also started painting my customised nyoom potato-- I mean Stormtalon (that could now double as a Stormhawk!):

Not much to show so far, but let me know what you think!

Apologies for the radio silence lately! I injured my back pretty badly and was out of action for a couple of weeks, and things kinda piled up. So this update's gonna be a pretty meaty one to make up for it, since I also picked up a couple of new models along the way!

First up, a bit more progress on painting the space potato:

Still a lot of work to do! I'm trying to decide what colour to paint the missile heads - I'm waffling between pale grey/white or silver or gold. I'm also still trying to figure out where I want to add the white accents to the Stormtalon itself. Opinions?

Next up: A bit more chopping done on the plastic BaC contemptor.

I have no idea how I'm going to end up actually posing this guy yet! But when I do, I'll fill in the thighs/ankles with milliput/greenstuff and maybe some plasticard.

Next! I picked up the 35th Anniversary Imperial Space Marine model, gonna paint him in pre-Heresy Thousand Sons colours, of course. Not gonna do any modifications on him though (apart from the base), just gonna leave him as is.

I also picked up the Forgeworld Legion Praetor guy - customising him up to be a Librarian, with some psychic hood details on the head and an added book/chain as usual.

And finally - after repositioning this jetbike sergeant fether like five times, I've FINALLY gotten him to a point I'm happy with! Still some clean-up and detailing to do, but at least the overall pose is now locked in. Keeping him removable for painting though.

I'm considering adding some blood spray from the blade and maybe also a flying ork head... we'll see if I can figure out how to do it! But that aside, I need some help/advice from people who know more about jetbikes than I do, please! The fact that the models for jetbike riders don't have backpacks BUGS me - how is his armour powered? Should I add some cabling between his back and the jetbike backrest? Please let me know what you think!

Any and all comments/feedback are very much appreciated!

@Zywus: Thank you! So far I've only used the airbrush on the jetbikes and the Storm Talon - everything else like the Praetor is just with the brush!

Just a little update atm, WoW:Legion has been eating into my free time lately oops. ¬_¬ I also picked up the Slaughterpriest model from the new White Dwarf, just because I want to paint that sucker at some point.

Experimenting with undercoating the gold areas with Warplock Bronze first. I'm probably going to try for some kind of TMM effect, we'll see how it goes!

Lots of excellet stuff, too much infact for me to coherently reply to.

First off, excellent work on the BA Captain, let us know how you get on in the local Comp.

Really digging the jetbike character.

The FW dude you've converted into a Libby is looking awesome, excellent converting to give it a bit if extra TS character.

@evildrcheese: Ahh, thank you! Even incoherent replies are awesome, and very much appreciated. My BA guy took out the competition, which I'm very happy with!

So, progress! I recently acquired one of those little ribbed-tube-rolling things from Greenstuff World, and my initial use of it was to make the first connector thing for my jetbike guy (it really bugs me that these guys don't have backpacks like wtf). I still need to make the one for the other side, that's probably going to be fiddly as hell but oh well, I'll manage it somehow!

Also, more progress on the Tartaros Librarian!

I'm pretty pleased with how the gold came out. I'm not sure what to go for with painting the force weapon, though. Leaning towards a purple-tinged blue for colours, but I'm still trying to decide what style to paint it in. Metallic with blue-purple tinting? Blue crystal? Lightning? Something else? Any suggestions or ideas, anyone? Let me know what you think!

Okay, almost done! I decided to go with a blue crystal kind of blade in the end. Still need to finish up some details and add the freehand, but he's nearly complete!

Let me know what you think! Once this guy's finished, my next project will most likely be the SLAUGHTERPRIEST with HACKBLADE!

Ooo lovely work on the blade, the gold on the Libby has come out really nice too.

Looking forward to seeing the Slaughter priest.

@evildrcheese: Thank you! The blade was a bit of an experiment, first time I've really tried something like that, so I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. And heh, I'm looking forward to getting to the Slaughterpriest! It's been a bit of a self-discipline struggle to not start painting it before I've finished the librarian!

Update time! I didn't get to do much more on the Praetor this week, since I got a request to do a tutorial on how I sculpt my chains. So I spent most my hobby time working on that this week! If you're interested, here's the tutorial on how to make a book and chain for converting your model into a Librarian or somesuch!

Here's the guy I used for the tutorial:

I also started working on the other leader guy from the BaC box a bit, since I had some leftover millistuff - I've removed the head of the crozius and will attach a glaive type blade once I get around to carving it. I've also scarab'd up his cloak clasps so far:

I'll be modifying the helmet as well, of course. Not sure what else I'll do to him yet though, if anything. I'm still trying to decide if I want to leave him with the pistol, or remove it and give him an open 'casting psychic powers' hand or something. Thoughts?

Okay, next update! I think I've finally finished the praetor terminator!

I'll get some proper photos of him eventually, once I get around to setting up the lightbox.

Now that the praetor's done, one of the next models I'll be working on is painting the Slaughterpriest, just for something different. I'm building a base for him out of spare sprue and greenstuff/milliput; here's the guts of the base before I put the coating layer of millistuff over it to properly shape it and finish it off:

I've also started designing/building the weapon for the commander guy from the BaC set. Here's some weapon sketches I did while trying to figure out the particulars:

And the blade so far:

I'll also hopefully be using this guy to finally do a step by step on how I customise the helmets.

Let me know what you think!

@Captain Brown: Thank you!

Okay so now that I've finished painting the Praetor, I'm back to my 'augh what do I focus on now' indecision. XD So here's what I've been working on lately!

Customising this guy from the BaC set into a Thousand Sons Librarian:

Here's his weapon:

I still haven't actually glued the blade on yet because I want to work on it a bit more. Does it need more detail?

Also doing a bit more detailing on the terminator guy from the BaC box:

Better look at the cowl detailing (though I've cleaned it up a bit more since this pic):

And finally, the custom base for the SLAUGHTERPRIEST with HACKBLADE is finished!

I'll most likely be painting the SLAUGHTERPRIEST next because reasons. XD So that's what I've been up to this week - let me know what you think!

Damn, the base on the Slaughter Priest looks wicked, can't believe it's only sprue and green stuff.

The detailing on the B@C termie looks amazing.

@Stormwall: Cheers! And yeah, I'm just not sure what sort of details to add, if I do! Decisions, decisions.
