Edit: Actually no, the rule hasn't changed. I remember Carlos bringing it up in the BoW demo game.
Yeah, that's exactly what I was talking about.
It will be good for blocking LOS for some things though...
Jeez, what kind of people do you guys play against?!
If I saw a miniature touching that with some part of it (the miniature physically touching it etc.) it would get cover, simple as. Sometimes you have to look at the logic of how a rule is intended (i.e. the base is used as a convenient measure of the unit being in close enough proximity to an object to be benefiting from being next to it) rather than thinking in such an abstract way about what is happening on the tabletop.
OT - Definitely looking forward to this KS! Antenociti are a great company, looking forward to what they have come up with for it.

I agree though it's perhaps not ideal terrain for that very reason.
We're lucky in some respects that Infinity has a lot less abstraction (being a skirmish game), so you get very little of 'this is actually meant to be this, but this was the only practical way to express that abstraction'. I guess this is one of the few examples.
It doesn't fix the root of the problem.. but are those containers MDF? If they are just don't put on the legs and tip them slightly onto one of their sides? Then you could touch the base on one side, and still get away from LOS as it would make the container taller a bit.
Other than that I'm not sure what one could do
Having received my Mars Attacks! wrecked car bundles (for which AW was responsible), I'm looking a lot closer at their space/future vehicles. Really nice stuff in hand. I'm not sure about backing the KS, but certainly they may see some of my monies down the road for their scifi vehicles.

After playing 40k, making base contact with tanks and other huge things with overhangs all of this time, this terrain comes out and you go "But how am I going to make base contact with that in Infinity?"
Where's base contact? Pretend for just a moment you're playing 40k and that its an enemy model and you've declared an assault.

The galaxy is littered with the single-planet graveyards of civilisations which made the economically sensible decision not to explore space.

Antenociti's Workshop Yup, every building component, windows, doors, hatches, lights etc, will be available as add-ons, with bundle-sets at discount as pledges for "resin only" (aka no buildings if you dont want them)
Not sure how they'll set the pledge levels up for this KS it sounds like you'll save more by going for bundle deals but everything should be available as add ons only as well.
I've held off ordering any of the new stuff to see what shows up in the KS.
Holy dramatic music, Batman! Looks great though. Do we know what the scope of this Kickstarter will be? Is it only for the "Forward Base" line, or will it perhaps include the long-awaited dropships, too?
"Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake." -Napoleon
Yeah, do we know if the Toposolitario stuff is going to be in this Kickstarter, or their planned second one? The second one that they've been talking about is going to be the one with the faction dropships.
Not to be 'that guy' but why are they kickstarting this again? Seems like they have quite a bit ready to roll. Is it more of a pre-order like some do or will they be using the funding to expand the range?
Either way it's neat stuff, depending on pricing and how the bundles/pledge levels work out I could see spending a little money on this one.
Automatically Appended Next Post: The interiors are pretty fantastic, the bunks recessed into the walls... awesome.

Antenociti's Workshop
November 7
Ever wondered how your TAGs leave the factory? Now you can buy your own TAG Crates when Forward Base kicks-off on the 17th November!
Habitat 1 is a general purpose Habitat that can be used for Accommodation or as a technical center by changing out the wall-panels for different modules.
Habitat 2 is a dedicated Med-Lab with a rooftop landing pad and external lift for carrying patient up and down from the Habitat... the landing pad on the rooftop is large enough to take a 4-person "City Hopper" (Coming out in this KS also)
Habitat 3 is the Dormitory (no video yet)
Vegetation
Power Generator

Habitat Anatomy - big image!
Spoiler:
Habitat 4 - "Big L"
This is essentially a double-unit of the Standard habitat formed into a L-shape to provide both variation in style and different challenges as a scenery item. The interior becomes quite large and you can fit this out in many different ways by utilizing different "Interior Panels".
We can show the S2 silhouette as it has already been shown elsewhere..all the others, in fact 2 of every one, are tucked away inside the presentation box.
We wanted the "thinnest" possible silhouette so that we either didn't need to move the figure at all, or only move it very marginally to be able to position the silhouette without a lot of room for..let's say "fudging" placement.
We also felt that 2 of each silhouette was preferable so that you can have one silhouette at each end of the LoF question (can i see your silhouette from my silhouette?) ... that suited our gameplay in testing anyway.. so rather than go with a more expensive material, we kept the thickness down (2mm) and added a "handle" so that you could also place the silhouette from above scenery and terrain.
On each silhouette itself are also markers (little >'s) that indicate the 1/3 line, both vertically and horizontally (from top, bottom and both sides) for qualification of cover, place the "fly swat" (as they have been christened) behind terrain and its then easy to see if cover is granted or not.. even if the cover is off the ground i.e. top-down, or too either of one side only (or a bit of both, or all three...) .
Should a breakage occur they will be available separately and it all comes "sealed" to prevent staining and water damage.(when released).

Antenociti's Workshop Well, The "All-in" pledge, which is absolutely everything (plus some extra bits) is £400.00...and more than enough for a very busy 6x4 table.
That's every building (a couple of each of two types also), with full interiors, all interior scatter, all exterior scatter, all vehicles and "extras"... that also gets you Customization on the logos on all the buildings and a Personalised Ltd Edition Box-set of.. Something I cant say anything about atm
Half of that will give you a very busy 4x4 tables worth of buildings plus scatter...
Antenociti's Workshop - yes, we will be running with a back-end pledge manager for surveys, and add-ons will be open and available after the KS closes within that system.
Antenociti's Workshop A Civilian Merekat, 3 versions of TOPOs Samsara utility vehicle, and the new "flyer" "City Hopper" (plus the little fork-lift)
Antenociti's Workshop - the resin one (Samsara) will be 82% of the full--size cardboard version, so about the same size as our Hunchback APC, and able to park two of them inside Habitat 5 (the Workshop)
Antenociti's Workshop - starts on Monday 17th November 2014, 8pm UK time.

A snippet of Information for our customers in the USA and Canada - Forward Base Postage ... £20.00. (~$32 USD)
So even on the biggest pledge the postal charge wont go over £20.00... I know folks in the North of America have been worried over the possibility for high postage charges, especially considering the make-up of Resin and MDF (not the lightest of items), but we've done a lot of work on ensuring that we keep them as low as we possibly can... On the bigger pledges it will be working out under 10% and even under 5% at the very top tiers.
We're pretty chuffed at this price, and we hope that you are also.
.. we've got Australia down to around £45.00 on the big pledges (so about > 50% of where it started out!) ... and we're looking into doing something to "off-set" some of the remainder.. but its something we have to ask Kickstarter about before we can go ahead.
