hmmmm, I'm think all models should count as cavalry for obvious reasons (it'll also be interesting to see an army like that) and the idea of buffalo would be cool if you had them like kroot (form a mini army....cos we heard you like armies so we....you know the rest). critters should act more as servitors/henchmen than anything (maybe have them unlocked as troops if you take Fluttershy as an HQ ala coteaz)

for the buffalo stats I would say -1I and +1S/T compared to ponies and for ponies I would say mid I,T,S and WS+BS (maybe T3). not sure what kind of armour they should have though I'm thinking some kind of "shield of friendship" (6++ save) if the unit still has more than one member and also the obligatory power hoof as an upgrade

pegasuisisies should get better movement (maybe jetbikes?) and I would think take up a FA slot also, unicorns as psykers (elites maybe) maybe something like GK psyker squads

as for SC, not sure if luna and celestia would be a little bit OP but I can see rainbow dash unlocking pegasususues as troops and maybe have twilight unlock unicorns as troops? it would be nice to see all six as a command style squad though :L

pinkie has to deep strike or can pop out of units that are deep striking (and needs a 4++/3++ in combat for pinkie senses)

uh huh, uh huh, I'm liking this... maybe the mane 6 as a apoc formation rather than something in the book? I'm thinking T4 generally, I think they'd be tougher than humans to a high enough degree to justify it. And I'd like to see them live long enough to avoid getting tabled - T3, low model count, likely MSU army. Not sure about Vehicles, but I will get the bass cannon in there.

an apoc unit would make the most sense, the T3 was more to avoid getting too close to marine stats but I can see T4 working

trixie would have to be a psyker SC and I'd like to se scratch in there as well (along with octavia). Though I would maybe limit it to only the mane six and supporting characters as if we include background ponies as well then we may have a few too many SCs :3 if you include celestia then maybe have some kind of remove from play effect (to the mooooonnahhhh)

vehicles would maybe be a problem as ponies dont really seem to have any though the plough thing in winter wrap up could maybe have some kind of dreadnought effect :?

If Celestia is on the field then Night Fighting is nullified.

Luna makes it Night Fighting (possibly similar to that Necron dudes rule, don't know exactly how his works) and her and her Royal Guard have Night Vision and double their vision roll.

Celestia, Luna and Twilight if you're putting her in as a character on her own (possibly a unique upgrade to one unicorn magic artillery unit?) have more psychic abilities than normal Unicorns/Alicorns and are able to use several in one turn (like Ahriman). Luna and Celestias horns should be force weapons which they can still use if they used a psychic power (like Typhus' Manreaper).

I think "best pony" can be an extreme nuisane ... but you at least managed to make it hugely entertaning (massive fun) while doing it.
There is no best pony, but my favourite, is actually Applejack ... i also know how insane things can become if one holds onself to absolute truth, while essentially promising things to the left and right (Last Roundup-style).
... I seem to be more like Twilight, though ....

As for a FiM-ish Pony codex, there are several routes one may decide between, and it is essentially determined with the questions:
* What is the FiM/WH40K-ratio?
* Do we assume the characters as is, or if not, how many WH40K things are to be added?

So, are the ponies more like IG, or more like SM?

Here are some suggestions from me:
The Earth ponies are noted as the strongest and sturdiest, so they have S4 & T4.
Pegasi seems sturdy despite their assumed light wheight, but they are not as strong, normally(Yeeahh! Uh? ..... Normally, i said.) so i'd say they have S3, but i'd accept both T3 & T4.
For unicorns, i'd suggest S3 and T3, and perhaps psyker abilities, if possible, low level psyker abilities. (I'm not up-to date with the current rules for psykers).

Pinkie Pie should have hiding and infiltration abilities matching a Callidus, although she may not be that good at fighting. She may opt to attack with Initiative instead of Weapon Skill, and those attacks has NO SAVE, however, anyone "killed" by such an attack may not be counted towards Victory points. (She makes friends if possible, and if not, she use the"wabbit season"-trick on them, to make them attack themselves.)

I'd say any musically inclined characters (Vinyl Scratch, Octavia, Lyra) may be equipped with sonic weapons like those noise marines have(sorry for using "old laguage" ...) but it requires that you have taken either Pinkie Pie or Vinyl Scratch (or both).

....Buffalo should have at least T4 & S4.

Here's an option. Now, obviously one of the strong points of the show is the lovable characters, but a whole other thing that is adored about it is the rich world it takes place in.

Look at Fallout: Equestria for example- you could do something like that for the Pony Codex. Call it Codex: Canterlot Guard. Special Characters would be made from whole-cloth (or possibly come from supporting characters or fan-made characters- I'm thinking Shining Armour and Captain Keen-Eyes in particular) while the units would be created as though they were standard units of the "actual" Equestrian Military. Celestia, Luna and the Mane 6 would all be Apocalypse Only, simply because I can't see them taking the field unless straights were dire.

Basic Troops would consist of Earth Pony Lancers, Unicorn Archers and Pegasus Scouts. Earth Ponies would be T4, init 3 and Stubborn, with Furious Charge (if Cav don't already have that) and a 4+ save. Unicorn Archers would be T3 with a Range 18", Str3 AP5 Assault 2 weapon/Psychic Shooting Attack and a 5++ save. Pegasus Scouts would be Jetbikes, T3, Init 5 Counterattack with a 5+ Cover save, Hit and Run and Scout, but they'd be very, very expensive and come in small units.

All units would have Leadership 9 and the ability to regroup (automatically or not) at any strength if within 6 inches of an unengaged friendly unit.

Fast Attack would have a faster version of the Pegasi (move like Jetbikes, but are still Cavalry?) with the ability to do Bombing Runs. They'd also have Buffalo Ridge-Runners, which would be Infiltrating, Hit and Run, Tougher but slower Lancers. Maybe Flying Chariots as well, with Unicorn Archers or Mages on them.

Elite would have upgraded versions of each of the base 3- Iron Hooves for Earth Ponies (or Earth Pony Knights), a Unicorn Enclave of Psycher unicorns, and a wing of StormBolts, the more directly military wing of the WonderBolts.

Heavy Support would have Buffalo Auxiliaries, Chariots, and some form of artillery- Equestria has Cannon, so Bombards of some form wouldn't be out of the question. Maybe also a version of Heavy Psychers, Unicorns dedicated to battlefield control and manipulation of the elements (and I mean literal battlefield control- making trees fall on enemies, earthquakes, re-routing rivers, all that stuff). Also Military Weather Control, creating storms, tornadoes, lighting (this would be another unit).

HQs would be Equestrian Guard Commanders, starting as Earth Ponies with good armour- but they can be 'upgraded' to Unicorns or Pegasi (maybe losing Toughness or something) Special Characters would include better versions of each 'branch' and Type of Pony.

Upgrades are pretty straightforward, though I'm thinking that each squad 'leader' upgrade should have something like Cryptek options- not as powerful, of course, but that sort of versatility.

Cost would be somewhere around Necron, I think. They're not "Supersoldiers" able to take 5 models and wreck an army, but they're not "Send in the Next Wave" fighters either.

WS across the board (aside from some HQ and Special Characters) would only be 3, however. Ponies aren't violent by nature.

Alright, that's some great input. I now have a good amount of ideas on a notepad to work with. The only exception I'm going to say about right now is Anvildude's suggestion that the mane 6+ Celestia are Apoc only. As much as it makes sense, I know a lot of us would like to take them without having to go to such extremes. Besides, apoc style power only comes out when they break out the elements.

i tend to stay on the lighter side of things and dont stray beyond fallout equestria, did read a little of chapter 20.5 but it made me vomit so i stopped reading
