They have roughly two and half times the throw weight, and 3 times the Structure points and Void Shields. So without figuring in the fact of 3 warhounds will pop like popcorn as the Warlord will just take the punishment 3 warhounds would be the better investment initially but since the warlord would recharge his shields and how you can't destroy 1/3 of his firepower after dropping 2 void shiels and 3 structure points.

fighting 3 warhounds vs fighting 1 warlord.

when fighting 3 warhounds you can focus your firepower on dropping one warhound at a time instead of spreading out your firepower. with each of the warhound you destroy that is less you have to deal with.

I know logic, numbers, tactics, and strategies are all thrown out the window once turn 1 starts because dice, and randomness do come into effect and the best laid plans can come tumbling down.

But I was wondering if anyone fielded a warlord in an apocalypse 40k game, not an epic apolcalypes game, but a 40K game using the expansion.

Anything under the shields smashes them and they only have 4 guns compared to the warhounds 6 (on the 3 of them). I watched it die to 15 fire dragons!

3 warlords have 6 warhound weapons, A warlord has 2 warhound weapon, and 2 arm weapons, the arm weapons are each 1.5 times as powerful as a warhound weapon. So effectively a Warlord titan has effectively 5 weapons compared to the Warhounds 6 weapons, but the thing is it is easier to kill the warhounds one at a time... drop 2 shields and 3 structure points and 1/3 of the warhounds are destroyed, were there is little effect of the damaging the warlord to it's throw weight... The shots it takes to destroy the the warlord is enough shots to destroy all 3 war hounds.

well a warhound can get 4 D shots a turn... so 3 of them could get 12 D shots a turn,

a Warlord can get 10 D shots a turn, with 6 shields and 9 structure points a warlord could survive 12 D shots if they didn't role perfectly.

The Warlord can destroy at least one of the warhounds if not two with the right roles...

But what can happen is not the same as what normally happens... I was wondering how many people have fielded warlords and how have they done for them.

well first trial run was rough, since titan's can't control objectives. in a 3,500 point game had warlord and 5 units of 6 thousand sons. started with everything on the board on turn one and should of held the thousand sons in reserves. I am not much on using transport but going to use 2 rhinos units of 4+1 A/S. and 3 units on foot with 5+1 A,S.
