Hey Dakka,

I recently got the Blood Angels codex, and am trying to figure out how I can make a Blood Ravens army that fits in with the post DoW II: Retribution background. My idea was to use sternguard to represent veteran tac squads and then have assault squads and scouts for troops. Here is my list that I'm thinking about. Its 2500 points.

HQ

Captain - 130 (Representing Gabriel Angelos)
Thunder Hammer

Librarian - 100

Elites

Sternguard - 335
5x extra vets
2x meltaguns
Power fist
Rhino

Sternguard - 335

2x meltaguns
Power fist
Rhino

Sternguard - 335

Power fist
Rhino

Troops

Assault Squad - 230
5x extra marines
2x Flamers
Power fist
Combat Shield

Assault Squad - 230
5x extra marines
2x Flamers
Power fist
Combat Shield

Assault Squad - 420
5x extra marines
Combat Shield
Land Raider Redeemer

Scout Squad - 105
Sniper rifles
Camo Cloaks

Heavy Support

Dreadnought - 140
Drop Pod

Dreadnought - 140
Drop Pod

Total: 2500

What are your thoughts on this list? My thoughts when looking at it are perhaps dropping the power fists to save a lot of points and put them elsewhere. Perhaps dropping a sternguard squad as the three squads take up half the points. The only thing I'm really adamant about using are sternguard, the captain, and the librarian, unless there's something you think would represent a Blood Ravens company better.

I've seen alot of people use combi-meltas on the stern guard and launch them in a drop pod. Only problem with that is that deep striking is so unpredictable. While it isnt fluffy it is more tactical

Thats what I had seen as well. I might try and find a way to fit the combi-meltas on the sergeants, and I like droppods, but I'm trying to keep the army mobile.
