I won a rune-carved skull with one glass eye at an arcade this weekend. Any creative ideas on a 40k-themed prop he should be turned into? Chaos lovers especially, your input is valued.

Hmm - Skull Mountain, or a really big servo skull.

On a boat, Trying not to die.

Pop a Khorne Icon onto the front of the skull (Where the name thing is) and hang it from a chain.

Or you could hollow it out and drink from it.

I do have a csm army, so that is a debatable possibility. However, i was thinking more life-sized props, such as servo skullls, etc

You answered your own question, I'd say. That thing's practically begging for some some sprinkler risers, guitar strings, an LED or ten, and a bit of plasticard. With the glass eye, it's well on its way to becoming a servo skull, already. Leave the runes and add a few spikes and a sculpted icon or two and you could give it some Chaos flavor rather easily, if you preferred.

An idea I just had was to make it into some sort of Chaotic Altar-type thing - perhaps cutting off the top of the skull to make it like an arcane goblet? Or perhaps carving a chaos god symbol into the top of the skull and then suitable decorating it
- for example Khrone would have blood dried all over it,
it would be carved with runes, inscribed with gems, and have locks of hair and feathers tied to it for tzeentch,
for nurgle maybe having three rotting candles with green wax and slime coming out of the nurgle icon's holes?
and for slaanesh - i don't even know, any ideas?

Alright, so I thought it out and here's my plan -

I'm going to turn the skull into a chaos altar - perhaps constructed by a small-time cultist practicing under the eye of the Imperium, or a small personal adornment for a Chaos Space Marine's antechamber. I'm going to dedicate it to one of the FOur Ruinous Powers - no Chaos Undivided, the idea is that this object is hyper-religiously devoted to one god of the patron's worship. I've come up with 4 ideas for different altars, and they are as follows:

KHORNE
The Khornate Altar would be an object of bloodletting for the devout. A Khorne symbol would be cut into the top of the skull, with the middle triangle bit removed. The skull is hollow. The skull would be painted with wood stains to look old and covered in dried blood (mahogany wood stain). Tiny parts of it, however, like the teeth, eyes, etc, would be fresh bone - trophies from the cultist's (admittedly few) kills. Perhaps a xeno fang shoved into an empty tooth socket, or a fresh eye jammed in. The base would be the gore-slung remains of a ribcage with the skull sitting in the middle, like a bizarre dinner platter. This would be the goriest altar.

TZEENTCH
The Tzeentchian altar would have even more runes engraved into it, taken from Liber Chaotica and other such places. The glass eye would be pulled out of the original skull. The skull would be painted with wood stains to make it look old, and clumps of multicolored crystal would be growing over its surface. The missing teeth would be replaced with gems. The empty eye sockets would have those multicolored candles that burn colored flames melted into them, so they could be lit to make the multicolored flames Tzeentch loves so much. A band of twine would be wrapped around the skull's cranium, bearing clumps of bright bird's feathers. This would be the most colorful altar.

NURGLE
The skull would have a 3rd eye socket modelled onto it, or carved in. The top of the skull would have the three-holed Nurgle Icon drilled into it, and an animal horn (also weathered) would be spiking out of one hole. Out of the other holes would come mottled, gnarled, clumpy, disgusting candles, putrescent green. Slimy green wax would have run over the skull from use, and the bone is black and filthy. Cobwebs would cover it, along with cracks, chips, and boils. This would be the most weathered altar.

SLAANESH
A leather muzzle would be wound around the skull's jaw, locking it into a permanent grimmace. Metals studs and jewels would adorn the skull, along with clumps of soft fur. Tattoo-style designs would be painted on it. This would be the weirdest (not in a good way) of the altars.

Vote to see your Chaos Patron idolized!

I Like the servo skull idea. Give it a little chain and you could wear it around your shoulders

Actually, that Tzeentchian altar sounds pretty sick

First I would put on goggles.

Then I would take it out back and hit it really hard with a hammer.

Then I would take the larger more recognizable pieces and use them for a bunch of different 6 inch or smaller terrain pieces. with grass trees, like this giant thing has been killed a long time ago, and plants were growing up around the remains..

If possible, I would take the glass eye out first, because it's cool looking and probably would not end well if you hit it really hard with a hammer.

I vote for this! Even if you don't really want to use it for terrain
