Hi I just joined up and wanted to say hello  I'm only into painting so far and I like fantasy things best (especially LOTR and similar). My brain isn't quite wired to get my head around the rules easily though lol

Welcome to the gaming side of the hobby. I still think gaming is only 1/4 of the reason to do this. Collecting, converting, and painting are what I like best. I game because it's fun, but I know I can paint and build with no specific interest in playing.
Looking forward to seeing your work in the Gallery, and a word of caution about getting too wrapped up in 5th Ed... many rumors are out that 6th Ed is mid-2012 and things are likely going to change up considerably. Mind you it's just a rumor, but I wouldn't make a lot of retail purchases for rules book, Codices, etc.
