I should have left him there. He had served his purpose. He owed me nothing - yet he gave himself to me willingly. Why? I know not. He is nothing more than a pathetic human. An inferior race. A mon-keigh. But still I broke off my wings so that I might carry him easier. I took him from that place, into the snowstorm where our tracks will not be found. He is heavy. And he is dying. And he is slowing me down. But I will save him. Why? I know not. He is still warm. I can feel his blood ebbing across me. For every beat of his heart, another, slight spill of heat. The heat blows away on the winter wind. His blood is still warm. But fading. And I have spilled scarlet myself. The snow laps greedily at our footsteps and our lifeblood, covering them without a trace as we fade away.

I also like the death guard because they stick their middle fingers up at dark elders poisoned weapons due to them being immune to poisons

It's a tossup between the Thousand Sons and the Ultramarines. Even though I don't think Graham McNeill writes Space Marines well at all, the motivations of the Thousand Sons and their tragic fall is one of the better plot lines of the Heresy. Ironically, the other Marines that Graham has done a terrible job of writing is the other most interesting chapter, the Ultramarines.

I think you mean the aftermath of the Heresy.
Word Bearers. They found out the truth the Emperor was hiding, and became the original Chaos legion.

I merely meant to point out that the statement made it sound like the Ultras won the heresy by doing most of the fighting. I wasn't trying to be clever, just pointing out that they led the Scouring, not won the heresy.

No, you were just trying to be snarky. You make it sound like those kinds of comments aren't made all the time, lol.
If that isn't true, then it just don't understand that if the loyalists had won the Battle of Terra, but the Imperium had collapsed in the aftermath, that the Imperium wouldn't have survived the Heresy because the Heresy would have directly contributed to its downfall. After all, the Heresy was a far larger conflict than just the Battle for Terra.
So it's your choice. Were you trying to be "clever" and make a snarky comment, or are you somewhat naive and poorly learned? I mean. I at least gave you credit for being smart enough, and just acting like a jerk.

This is the problem with typing stuff on the internet, I suppose, it doesn't convey tone . I was not intending to be snarky at all. I personally think of the Heresy as ending at the Battle for Terra, and the Scouring as being the period after. The problem lies, I suspect with our different interpretations of what survived the heresy meant. I read it and though survived the heresy = won the battle for Terra. He possibly meant survived the Heresy = held the Imperium together afterwards. Now that I've had it pointed out, I can see where you are coming from, and in that way he is correct.
Don't be so quick to assume people are just being jerks. As this incident proves, it is often just down to a different interpretaion of what has been written.

Don't apologize, because while your point is relative, his is factually wrong. The Ultramarines didn't do most of legwork in saving the Imperium any more than any of the legions who fought on Terra did. Using his own logic against him, Gurlyman drawing up the codex and holding the Imperium together after the Heresy would have been completely pointless if Horus had survived and taken Terra, in which case there wouldn't have BEEN an Imperium for the Ultramarines to hold together. So it's easy to argue that if it hadn't been for the White Scars, BA's and IF's holding Terra while the Ultramarines were busy trying to not get their asses handed to them on a platter on the other side of the galaxy, all would have been for naught. That logic works both ways. Really, there is no legion that was "more useful" for winning the Heresy. A lot of it came down to purely to luck and good fortune, or arrogance on the aggressors end.

But the logic doesn't work both ways. Your way is shortsighted and only examines part of the question.
Either way you put it, the Imperium may not have survived the Heresy. If Horus wins the Battle of Terra, the Imperium is shattered and the civil war continues. If the Imperium wins the battle of Terra but collapses in the aftermath because nobody is able to step up and put it back together, it's the same effect.
I never said the Ultramarines did all of the work. The other guy did. I merely pointed out the fallacy of saying that because the Ultramarines were not present at the Battle of Terra that they were not a big part of what saved the Imperium as we know it. The books have said this explicitly for twenty years, lol. It's not my fault you want to pretend that the Battle for Terra was the end of the Heresy, because it wasn't. The Emperor's autocratic rule was the only thing that the Imperium had ever known for hundreds of years, if not longer, and he was gone. There was another seven years of fighting, a new government to put together, and more. There's nothing factually wrong about what I said because all I said was that the Battle of Terra wasn't the only part of surviving the Heresy. But, based on your spelling of Guilliman, we know where you stand in the anti-Ultramarine Nerd Rage, lol.

The part of your post he took issue with is: "it is mostly thanks to them that the imperium survived the HH" (he even bolded it for clarity). He was right to take issue with it, because that statement is factually incorrect. I mean, I'm sure you were just exaggerating, but it's not a correct statement if it's to be taken literally.

It takes two to tango. A flame war can only start if someone reciprocates to the aggressor. Ergo, it isn't possible.
Just realized that I forgot to list my own favorite legion. It's the Salamanders. I like the fact that their lack of Grimdarkness stands out amongst the rest of the chapters.

I find that the Space Wolves can be comparable to the Salamanders in the fact that they both look out for human lives versus, Marines Malevolent for example (yes they're not a legion just using them as a contrast).
Except with the whole flaw and stuffs.
I like flaws, makes things more interesting
