Subject: Justicar Thawn Mastery Lvl 2?

So Thawn has Hammerhand and Mastery Lvl 2. Does this mean he can cast powers seperately from the squad? As in, he uses HH and the squad uses HH and they gain +2Str, and he activates his weapon, thus activating the entire unit?

If he doesn't have "Brotherhood of Psykers" then he can't activate the squad's weapons...only his own.

I think he would count as the Justicar though, cause he is an upgrade for a Justicar, meaning theoretically he is just another justicar.

He can't activate HH twice. He could activate HH and the squad's Force Weapons.

Harry, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee. |

I mean him himself, as MLVL2, and the squad, as a seperate HH. They both have HH.
Also, would him and his squad count as 2 psykers, rather than 1 for BoP?

Strange, Thawn doesn't have BoP, so perhaps he does use his own powers seperately. He can activate the squads force weapons as he is an upgrade character, not an IC.

Brilliant. :(
But does he count as a seperate psyker for purposes of Culexus Assassins and such?

Disregard my earlier post, he can't activate the squads force weapons as he doesn't have BoP, so what the hell did they do with this guy? At best he can give the unit HH and activate his own Force Weapon

Right so this it what he can do.
He can use HH to upgrade his and the squad's Str, because it affects the whole unit, and activate his own weapon. The squad can then activate weapons or give everyone a further +1 Str.
Ok, so that's what we know he can do.
But does he count as a second psyker i9n the squad, therefore giving a Culexus +2 shots if within 12"?
Does a Brotherhood Banner affect him?

Frightening Flamer of Tzeentch

This is just a gut feeling, not RAW or anything, but more an observation from reading his entry and how he has been played at my FLGS. The special rules listed for him appear to be his rules for once he is seperated from his unit (i.e. after his first death). I say this because it lists the Fearless USR for him, however he would only benefit from this once he is on his own. Since he's an upgrade character and not an IC while he is part of the Terminator squad he benefits from their special rules such as ATSKNF (happens anyways since you only need one model with the rule) Combat Squad, BoP and Deep Strike. If not then if you ran him with a 10m squad you wouldn't be able to combat squad them since one of your models doesn't have the rule, however I don't believe that is the RAI.
So in my mind he obeys by the rules of the squad (but he does bump them up to Psyker Mastery 2 since it is the Justicar taking the tests when in a squad) and once he dies his other rules kick in and he flies solo. As I said, my basis for this being that he's an upgrade model and not an IC able to take his own psychic tests. Feel free to comment and critique, simply my own observations. Also I'll apologize if this sounded like gibberish, just woke up.

You don't talk rubbish at all GreyChaos. I think those are really good observations and are great ideas.
I think that is a fair way to do it. I though he funtioned as if he was an IC, but without the ability to leave, and allows his Ld to be used for the entire squad, while being seperate for Psychi Powers.
