No, it's the hobby. You've posted enough on this board that you should know building things, especially big, custom stuff, is part of what people do.

Building one is simple.
You

1) get a tube of cardboard
2) paint it silver
3) Stick it on a box
4) Paint that so it looks imperial
5) ????
6) PROFIT!!

An article on how the guy made that one would have been cool, but isn't really necessary.

I would suggest that if you're not much of a modeller, perhaps wargaming is not the hobby for you?

I am actually quite offended by that. Wargaming is possibly the sole thing I am good at in excess, and just because I don't have the tools or know how to build a fortress with laser battery on it doesn't mean I should stop.

I imagine the towers are from CoD sprues and the central building is mostly foam board. There are lots of plastic pipes in there, and those come from hardware shops for simple plumbing work. I'm note sure what the ball shape is made from, but it's just a ball I'm sure you could find something right in the hardware shop.

Your evident dismay at the idea of scratch-building something indicates otherwise.

Look, I'm not trying to be confrontational here. You've just caught me off guard. You've got a large post count, you've obviously been around the forums and have probably put together a model or two.

But your comments above seem like a petulant child being upset that he can't have the cool toy pictured.

My response to seeing something like that is "cool, I could make something like that" and that covers the Ultramarine armoured Train, the scratch-built Gargants and Titans I've seen, etc. Your response seemed to be dismay and irritation that they showed a picture of something that you couldn't buy. It's a completely different repsonse, and indicates a deep difference of opinion to something I consider integral to the wargaming hobby, which is a desire to create.

Kinda the point i think.. Super-heavy class to the point of being completely immobile and used for anti-orbital, big BS probably helps.

We played a 6 on 6 3500 pts each apoc game yesterday and my friend brought one, he just used an old G.I. Joe anti-aircraft gun with some aquillas on it and slightly modded. He literally has like 20 bucks into it.

The towers, bridges and detailing around the balcony are Cities of Death panels.

Small pipe work is CoD as well.

Autocannon turrets are ForgeWorld.

The bulk of the gun turret and the large pipes are plumbing supplies.

The laser dome seems to be a hamster ball.

Worth checking the pic out if you were looking to build something similar as it shows a couple of different angles.
