I was looking at the battleforce packs and some looked good then there some that did not look good. What is your thought about them. Also do you think there over priced or under priced.

IG one is rubbish. Most people aren't short on CCS and Sentinals.

Ever thought 40k would be a lot better with bears?

I think the IG battle force is nice. You can always use more guardsmen, special weapons, and heavy weapons. And if you like the sentinel, its an added bonus. I once added it up and you save $69 retail. Individual prices add up to $159, and the box in $90

I have to say I quite like the IG one, but it does depend on your style of play. I play an infantry heavy list so I used the company commands as platoon commands and I use quite a few heavy weapons as well. The sentinels are nice but not used that much. It's about £10 or so cheaper excluding the sentinel so worth it if you're going to use everything else.

Some are quite good, even with the price increases or weird unit selections (why does BA have a ten man tac squad?)

Space marine one is pretty ace since it is pretty much modular enough to be combined with any of the other marine battleforces. The Ravenwing set is a must have for any biker army since the DA stuff is optional.

Aye the best ones are those that haven't been updated reccently. Think Tau Empire and Dark Angels equal the best at the moment.

I'd guess if anyone one was thinking of going Tau when their new book comes out, grabbing a couple of the current Battleforces wouldn't hurt.

Here is more questions about the battleforce packs. Do you think that all battleforce packs need to come with a HQ. Also what other unites do you think your army's battleforce pack needs. Then the army's that do not have a battleforce pack what is your idea on what unites should be in it.

As it's been said before, battlepacks more often then not will give you a few good units, and a few units you'll never see in a competitive list.

to answer your above post, yes, I think they should come with an HQ.

It would be neat if battlepacks came with a 500 pt army that had a lot of variety to it. IG would get something like a chimera, a ccs, two vet squads, and a leman russ. That's like 400, but the boxes could suggest you upgrade things to make it to 500, to try out the different equipment you can use and see how it works.

No Battleforce should come with an HQ as it allows GW to keep charging full price for the proper HQ packs! However, you do currently get an HQ option in the Tau, Ravenwing & Tyranid sets, while the Blood Angel, Space Wolf, Chaos Marine & Daemons sets have enough spare components on the frames to build a decent looking HQ as well.

I think that honestly the Daemons battleforce is 'the best' in terms of overall pts you can build out of it;
HQ: HoK x2, HoT x1, HoSx1
Troops: 18-20x Bloodletters, 9-10 Horrors, 9-10 Daemonettes (depending on which/if any Heralds you decide to 'convert')
Fast: 5x Seekers

That's easily the potential for about 1000pts right there!
You can build 715 upto 905 or more pts by taking every possible upgrade and taking the pinkies as two units of 5 w/bolt. Add in at least another 80'ish pts base for a single herald and you're gold!

Now if only Daemons would get an actual codex instead of the bad joke we're currently stuck with.

Yeah I payed $150ish for just the rulebook, codex, templates, dice that all come in a $100 starter set. And I didn't get no models

For the necron battleforce pack I was thinking 1 necron lord, 20 warriors, 10 immortals, and 1 annihilation barge/catacomb barge. This would give you a good starting point for starting and expanding a necron army and correct me if I am wrong but is a necron lord a HQ if you do not take a nercon overlord.

Problem is with HQ's is that BF follow the Plastic only route and so far has no sign of changing. Most armies dont have a plastic HQ option

Which is odd when fantasy has been getting quite a few plastic lords and heroes

The Rhinos/Immolators are plastic...

Anyway, I think Battle Forces are generally a fairly good buy with one caveat: some are better than others. The IG one (either) isn't terrible and the bits for the HQ if you already have one can be used for Commissars, Vets, Sgts, etc. and so don't go to waste.

If you think you're going to buy most the models at one point and time, you save about 30 bucks buying the battleforce.

Space Wolves Battleforce is decent. 20 Grey Hunters is a must for any SW army and I love the 5 Wolf Scouts. Drop Pod however is still sitting on the sprue in the box. I have no idea why this was included.

I'd say it's because those plastic lords and heroes are very recent and 40k hasn't been fortunate to get any yet. I doubt battleforces will ever become "army in a box" deals though. They want to keep gouging those HQ models and there's no reason to stop, financially.

That's about it, though. We have no plastic infantry. And I was so optimistic last summer.

Now though... Now I've come to realize that I probably have all the Battle Sisters I need, so the only reason I'd get a plastic box set is to kitbash/convert into scalies, using Saurus Warrior parts. I'm not such a huge fan of the 4 I did using Marine torsos and arms, but that's due to the bulk of their armor compared to the scrawniness of the legs. Sororitas torsos would probably be better, and I might just use the legs and just add on tails and heads from the Saurus, like my original idea. Dragoness Pounceys have plantigrade feet, not digitigrade feet, so it'd work better to have them with armored legs and feet.

Guys, incase it hasn't being obvious yet, Sisters does not have a Battle Force,

Then someone decided to report me and got me banned.

It's perfectly functional though. Two battleforces and an HQ and you actually have a pretty decent, functional army.
